Not really new news. It was added due to a problem with over seas producer of the miniatures. As compensation each set adds this failed plane from BoB. |

Although not a success the Boulton Paul Defiant may have been if it had the luxury of being used as envisaged. If you assume the Luftwaffe was appearing over Britain from bases in Germany without fighter escort it was envisaged the turret fighter formation, flying a parallel course to the bomber formation, would slowly pull it apart with concentrated machine gun fire starting with the outside of the formation. Strangely reminiscent of battleships firing broadsides at each other. Unfortunately the bombers were flying from France with plenty of fighters for company. |

In 1942 the RAF seriously considered sending Defiants out to India to tackle the Japanese raids on Calcutta and other Indian cities. Lightly armed bombers at long range with little or poor escort, just what the Defiant was built for. Various reasons made it a no go, not least br eing logistics. Fatman |
