"As many as 10,000 of the 1911A1 pistols may be released for sale by the US government. The 2018 National Defense Authorization Act has a provision requiring the sale of between eight and ten thousand M1911A1 handguns. If approved, the weapons will be made available through the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). The nonprofit CMP's goal is to educate the public about using firearms responsibly and promoting marksmanship competitions around the country. The military provides its surplus firearms for the organization to sell in order to support its mission…" Main page link Amicalement Armand

I heard they will be $900 USD or so. Forget that.. |

Remember the CMP is not a gun discount depot, it is a, organization that holds competitions and sells surplus guns to finance their programs. |

If they are in halfway decent condition, then $900 USD is reasonable considering market prices. If they are clapped-out junk, then obviously it is ridiculous. Also the stated reasoning for the price is patently absurd, nor will I submit to multiple NICS checks for a single transaction. I'm still not sure on the legality of that, considering they are not transferring the firearm to the end-customer, so have no grounds to process a 4473. |

You can always get them at a 225 sale. |

I think I'll just buy a couple out of the back of some guy's trunk in Oakland. |

someone knows what a 225 sale is. |

$900 USD seems high to me. The patents have long expired on that great design and lots of people make them. I find it amusing that Smith and Wesson make one which they market as "John Browning's 1911 design". |

The CMP website states that the pistols will be examined and priced according to the fair market value based on condition. Nothing there about an estimated price. Not being current on 1911 prices $900 USD may be competitive. Two NICS checks seem excessive if the first gives a clean bill of health. |
