The new book coming out in 2018 for Team Yankee. Apparently it will be called Team Yankee: Free Nations and it is a compilation of NATO nations and allies. It will introduce the French, Dutch, Canadians, and, oddly enough, the Australians! They discuss this in this video about 3 minutes or so in. youtu.be/ncIZzA6aQ74 The French are getting the full treatment with plastic AMX-30 tanks, AMX-10 APCs, and Gizzelle choppers. No mention of artillery for them though The Dutch and Canadians are here too were and a lot of their kit is already out (they have an odd mix of US, German, and UK gear so it's just a matter of repackaging stuff). It sounds like some of their stuff will be metal/resin kits. The Aussies seem like an odd pick to me, but hey, it's their game. Didn't the Australians use US M113s and German Leopard tanks? Sounds pretty Canadian to me. It will be, interesting, to see ANZACs fighting it out with Ivan. I'm guessing they will be very Marine Corps like- hard infantry with pretty meh APCs and tanks. Just without the amphib gear. 'Nam and Fate of a Nation are also being updated to V4/Team Yankee too and they will be pulling in, finally!, plastic T55s. I'm hoping for T62s! But that will only be if they move the timeline up to 1973. If they do that we can go pretty retro with Team Yankee with M60s, Chieftains, and Leo Is going up against T55s and T62s. Pretty cool. Maybe the next book will give the same treatment to the Warsaw Pact with perhaps the Czechs and the Poles rolling. With those guys plastic T55s will be a must. Looks like a nice year so far for Team Yankee! |

Would have liked to see the Belgians…. they were in the line next to the Brits in Northag. As one of the weaker corps I would be surprised if the Russians hadn't planned on attacking through them. |

Why wait for BF to bring these out. ArmiesArmy has Canadian, Dutch, and Belgians in stock |

It's plastics for me, but I don't really collect NATO anyway. US, UK, and Soviets eat up all of my available funds. Ditto with the Belgians. I would have assumed we would see them and the Danes before we would have seen Aussies. But hey, they are from down there and it is their game. shrugs… |

US and UK are NATO too. Just sayin' |

Perhaps I should say mainland NATO? |

If Battlefront is redoing fate of a nation, we might see a plastic centurion which would be useful for Denmark and many others. |

Apparently it's been mentioned (unfortunately I don't have a citation) that the rationalization for including the Aussies is that a unit just happened to be in Europe during a joint training exercise when the war started. No word on Warsaw Pact releases this coming year. But assuming nothing on the schedule gets pushed back, I think there's still a little room late in the year for another release or two. |

I don't actually have a problem with the Aussies. They are a favorite of mine- I have a company for 'Nam. My issue is that you still have the Danes and Belgians left to do and they are key players in a WWIII in Europe scenario. An Aussie force, while definitely interesting, is reaching a bit too much for my taste. However, with that said, I will happily field them. I always have room in my TO&E for some sharp shooting diggers!

Hey, it's "Team Yankee". If there was an Aussie unit in the book, there should be one in the game. But I'm looking forward to Canadians. Leo1s and M113s. |

I don't recall any Aussies in the book. Germans yes, Poles, yes, Soviets of course and ditto for the US. Team Yankee was a very small part of the action and the book is based of Sir John Hackett's Third World War. I don't recall the Aussies in Europe either. But hey, it's fun. The Aussies are part of the Commonwealth of Nations and are closely allied with the US and has good relations with NATO nations. Actually this does bring up a question: what would Australia and New Zealand have done if WWIII broke out in Europe, Asia, and North America? Would it have joined its nominal allies or sat out the whole thing. I recall a movie from the 1950's that has a nuclear exchange and Australia is one of the last places to succumb to radiation. So I get the impression that the Soviets left them alone. Would that be the case here? Or would Australia (and perhaps New Zealand) have gotten involved in another World War overseas? Maybe a question for another thread. |

Australia is not a member of NATO, and if a unit was in Europe on a training mission would not likely by sent home. If you want to use Aussies then perhaps just have an invasion of Australia. |

The Australians were in Tour of Duty (Vietnam 1965-1971). Roughly contemporaneous with Team Yankee (1985). With very little effort Battlefront can make them serve double duty. The capitalist exploitation of the gaming class. |

If I remember correctly Australia and NZ were part of the UN forces sent to Korea. If NK invaded SK, both Australia and NZ would probably head up there to fulfill their duty again as per UN Force Command agreement signed in 1950s. |

IIRC, TY will have some troops from OZ fighting in Europe with the British. Maybe with their II Corps? That will be interesting. I would be in for a company. |
