…Medieval/Renaissance Battlefield? "HEMA stands for "Historical European Martial Arts" and is defined as any historically preserved warfare, dueling, or self-defense system originating from Europe. Such fighting styles survive in the form of military manuals, fencing treatises, and dueling manuals. This quiz only includes primary battlefield weapons with surviving treatises. War begins at far distance, so "primary weapons" are long weapons unless large shields are involved. We have another quiz for swords." Main page link Amicalement Armand |

Longbow. Don't know if that's on the list, but that's my answer. It's all about the range and the rate of fire. |
Stryderg | 22 Dec 2017 2:21 p.m. PST |
Don't know how good a long bow is as a melee weapon, but good luck with that. Spear – I got no skills and I'm out of shape, so something simple for me. |

The lightest possible, so it doesn't hinder my running away. |

I took the quiz and wound up with a sword and shield. |

Morning Star had the best stats in D & D. I'd go with Stryderg if there were enough to stand with us otherwise I'm with saltflats, only if he is slower than me. 😜 |

The quiz came up with the partizan, which happens to be my favorite long weapon. Good reach, usable for both cut and thrust and, in its most developed incarnation, capable of snapping an opponent's sword. It's a bit long for formal wear but I could live with that. LT

Couldn't take the quiz, but as someone who is unskilled in melee combat I would guess that some type of pole arm would be my best choice. With a pole arm of the type which can deliver a piercing blow, you get the advantage of length versus a sword, mace or axe. Although with a single handed weapon you get the advantage of also using a shield. |

A pike and one thousand of my closest friends who also have pikes. And a thousand of their friends with matchlocks. Bonus points for extended relations with horsies and bigger guns. |

Took the quiz: two handed sword. |

Also came up with partisan, guess 9mm semi automatic wasn't on the list. |

True, a longbow isn't a melee weapon, but I prefer the Alexandran answer to a ridiculous question. (I think we did this quiz years ago, and I wound up with a halberd?) |
Sadsad | 23 Dec 2017 3:10 p.m. PST |
I got pollaxe. I would personally prefer a 2 handed sword though. |

12 gauge shotgun, shells mixed between slug and 00 buck shot! |

I'll go for my trusty pole axe and type XVI sword + roundel dagger. |

I'm with WillPhillips on this one. I'm a re-enactment Sergeant of Musket so my considered response would be a musket block! Off to take the test now, I will report back in a little while. Edit took the test it suggested two handed sword. My preference is actually a short Rapier or better yet a Halberd. |
