So I finally picked up Diablo III for the PS4, and I started playing it and I have to ask…

Is that all there is?

Back when Diablo came out way back when, I played it and loved it. It spawned a million clones. The formula is simple. Pick a character, kill lots of things and take all the loot you can. Wash, rinse, repeat. You character gets better with better loot.

Now it's Diablo III, which came out 5 years ago. It's the exact same game. I spent 2 hours hacking my way through a desert without ever being in danger of dying. I've killed countless monsters and looted their corpses. I've followed along while the predictable and somewhat silly story has unfolded. Kill things, take their stuff, level grind. Wash, rinse repeat. You don't really have any say in the narrative and the progression is linear. "Go here, do (kill) this."

Wash, rinse, repeat.

I guess at this stage of life, I want more out of my video games than this. Something like Dragon Age or Elder Scrolls, where you have a choice in what you do and how you play and it actually matters. I'm done with Diablo.

Yes Blizzard did a horrible job with that game.
