"BAE Systems has signed a contract with Czech manufacturer Laser Centrum CZ, Ltd. to produce mechanical components for the Swedish Army's Mjölner mortar system based on CV90 tracked combat vehicle chassis. The agreement represents BAE Systems' first agreement with a supplier in the Northern Liberec region of the Czech Republic…."

So, fitting the 2-barreled AMOS rig onto a CV90, huh? Wonder what took so long… |

It won't be AMOS, it is a different mortar system. AMOS was tested for quite a long time and shown in various configurations (with changed details over the time). However the Mjölner comes with a newly developed armament. The photos/CGI I saw recently look a bit different to that one posted above. Kind regards, Benjamin |

link is the most up to date CGI image released by the maker BAE Hägglunds. AMOS was the system originaly intended to be fitted to these CV90 hulls but that project was one of many stopped by the then Center-Right goverment as a cost cutting measure. The hulls were put in storage as part of the "strategic reserve" while the battalions were issued with old m/41 120mm mortars instead. While the new Mjolnir systems lacks some of AMOS advanced features it is actually faster firing and unlike AMOS it can fire the STRIX guided AT round. |
