I say Sub Roman British but they could easily be Arthurian if that takes your fancy.
More re basing and tarting up of these figures that full on painting really but ready to go for our favourite 'To the Strongest' rules.

Very nice units.

Do I detect a slight warping on some of your bases?

What are they made of?

Looking at these your right Jim, MDF bought stuff mate. Have to watch that.

Just thinking, if I PVA the underside as well, would that help?
Dave.

Yep, you glue the underside or even just paint it black or some such and it should almost straighten out.

Cheers mate, will do.

I'm a big fan of OG's Romano British spearmen. They can be used in lots of early Dark Ages armies.

I'll double check the last MDF bases (Warbases) which were 2mm to see if I'm guilty as well.

I'm quite conservative when terraining my bases. I glue the figures in place with contact adhesive and usually leave for some time before doing the next stage.

Then I will add household filler around the bases blending them to the level of the MDF. Again I tend to leave them for a while, usually overnight.

I will then add patches of gravel using contact adhesive and later on some sand using PVA.

After another overnight pause I would base coat it entirely with an acrylic brown/sand/green colour. Dry brush with lighter colours to taste before a final wash of ink/water.

Lastly I would add static grass with dabs of PVA and then some scatter foliage with contact adhesive.

I have just checked the last batch of bases where I used this method and they look pretty flat to me.

Sorry if I've wandered off your original post.

Maybe a new post could be made if my tangent needs followed up.

Your units are pretty good though.

No problem Jim thanks for the advice, any replies are better than apathy off topic or not!
