I had seen some of his work before, but I had never seen this particular one until now. I chanced upon it by accident while looking for other WOTW pictures.

Looks like Saturn with tentacles dangling beneath it. Shouldn't be too difficult to duplicate, right? Just put a plastic jellyfish around a ring of some sort. :)

By the way, this was in the news earlier this year about Correa's WOTW illustrations:

Oh, yes IWOTW should be a lasting warning to all of us, to make sure our shots are up to date before any foreign travel.

Cacique Caribe17 Dec 2017 9:11 a.m. PST

Indeed. Stay up to date on shots and other meds when traveling or at home. Travelers could be sharing interesting germs when they come visit. :)

PS. Maybe HG Wells and others witnessed these atmospheric jellyfish back in their day.

Almost, dare I say it, 'Lovecraftian'

Great link! Thanks for sharing this I have seen only a couple of these pictures before. I am a great fan of TWOTW and have some of the early editions but not the one with these pictures.

What does this picture purport to illustrate. A single flying Martian, or a tripod in the air.

The complete text of the book is online, with all of the illustrations, beautiful stuff

There's another picture of that flying disc on page 137.

Nobody makes models of the tripods from these pictures, at least not in 28 mm that I collect.

Interesting.

Have seen some of those before, not quite sure when.

You have? Then I hope they didn't look like these. :)
