I've managed to add another unit to the roll this week. It's the 14th (Duchess of York's Own) Light Dragoons.

Looking very lovely. Great to see you churning them out to sue quality.

For the next regiment – horses tended to be matched up for colour by the squadron and sometimes they were swapped around to achieve this, so I've been told. I can't recall the year but the British cavalry stopped mounting trumpeters on greys at some point.

Of course none of this really matters unless you want it to. Have have some of my trumpeters on greys before I read otherwise and I suspect some colonels did what they pleased. I do my British leather black when I know it should be dark brown as it looks better (only IMHO) and my sister told me all her dark brown leather tack has gone black over time with cleaning and preserving – that's my excuse.
