I like them! Not overly "spikey" and they are wearing suitable clothing!

@Seattle Gamer 'Hits the mark!"
I.e., realistic survivors. The two on the Lt & Rt. The 1st w/ an axe & make-shift garbage can lid 'shield". And on the Rt., one of if not 'the' best self defence weapon of all, a simple baseball bat. Silent & deadly.

"Realistic survivors"? Where are their firearms? There are enough guns in the USA to arm every man woman and child.

@Shadow … Two of the women are indeed armed with firearms, but not every survivor should be depicted in that manner.

However, my real comments would be

1) – Why are you assuming the wasteland is the USA. Could be anywhere. I don't know anything about the game, but when I picture a wasteland, I thing of Road Warrior, and thus Australia, where gun ownership has been frowned upon for some time, and confiscation was a thing.

Or Great Britain, where they have been systematically disarming the people for decades.

2) – Guns won't be the limiting factor, it will be the ammo. I always assume that will be in short supply. Without ammo, you are simply carrying a club.

How many rounds get fired off in a standard skirmish? I'm guessing not a magazine or two, but more like several hundred per soldier. So how long will it take a typical civilian who has 1,000 rounds to burn through all of their 9mm or 45 cal? Having 1K rounds during peacetime means you can head to the range and fire off 50-100 rounds and keep up your skills, and order another box or two to replace them.

Once the SHTF, probably a year into the apocalypse, you may be down to empty boxes.

Since the OP specified "wasteland", I assume a nuclear war.
As for the availability of firearms, *every* country's military and police have thousands of guns. They don't disappear in an apocalyptic situation, and assuming that in an apocalypse that most people would be dead, no matter where you are there would be plenty of firearms to go around. Where there are thousands of firearms there are millions of rounds, and reloading equipment is very common, so some enterprising soul, like me, would set up shop to manufacture ammunition for sale or to trade. Pistols are fairly rudimentary machines. Teenagers mad them in my area of NYC. They were called "zip guns". The Mau Mau made them in the jungle in Kenya and the VC in Viet Nam made them in the bush too. Guns don't have to me made by little elves at Smith & Wesson. So believe me when I tell you. We wouldn't be going around carrying clubs and garbage can lids.
