I have searched through all the older topics on this web site to see if there was a answer to a question I have on painting up some pre 1809 Russian Battalions/Regiments.

Earlier Russian Muskateer units were comprised of :

2 x Muskateer Battalions
1 x Grenadier Battalion

And Grenadier Regiments were comprised of :

2 x Fusilier Battalions
1 x Grenadier Battalion

I know the Fusilers had a short miter cap which was later replaced with the "Bushy" plume shako and a single grenade badge…..

So other than that outward appearance were the fusiliers in any way different in ability or function from the Muskateer Battalions in the Line Regiments ?

No. Grenadier Regiments were not really any different than Musketeer Regiments (though they likely had a higher opinion of themselves).
