Maybe not the right message board but very much related. Looked for advice on the forum but couldn`t find an answer.
I just tried to use foto-google because picasa is no longer available, but I can`t get the link to show a picture. The URL starts with HTTPS (secure link) and no extension of jpg/gif or something similar. Any advice how to use the link from foto google?
Thanks in advance

I'm having similar problems posting pictures on TMP today. I can only post the links to my blog, rather than the actual pictures. Things were working OK yesterday, but not today. Sigh.

Works for me:

The link does have to end in ".jpg" or ".png".

If I copy the location under media location I get the following discription, no jpg ot png at the end

@MajorB: Your photo is not hosted on Google Photo, but on Tanks Ecyclopedia.

Google photo only gives gibberish links, so their photos only show up as a link on TMP, not an embedded image.

I don't see any way to embed a photo here from Google Photos.

I use Flickr which I like but getting a simple URL from Flickr involves a couple steps:

Here's hoping Photoracket, er, Photobucket goes belly up and it's management gets lumps of coal for Christmas! What a friggin cluster.

Your photo is not hosted on Google Photo, but on Tanks Ecyclopedia.

I was using it to illustrate the point that images work fine here if the URL ends in ".jpg" or ".png". The problem with Google Photos is that the links don't.

a faster, but more expensive ( it is a paid site, but with no advertising ) is Smugmug -- it is a one button copy of the jpg and another to paste and you are in.

Can you post images straight from a blog or do you still need a hosting site like Flickr? I haven't got back to photoracket so I haven't posted any images in a while.

@ Extra Crispy: thanks for the reply. So it seems Flickr is the only (free) option these days. Need to get myself an account then.

@DavBenBak:

As long as you image is online you can post a link, so long as it ends with ".jpg" or one of the accepted file types.

@Van Damme

Flickr (Yahoo) works for now. Frankly I see the writing on the wall. We have a family domain for email and now for photos. At the moment I keep Flickr because it uploads from your phone automatically if you turn that option on. Keeps me from having to gather multiple phones and do the upload manually.

Once they are on Flickr I can download the ones to keep as a zip file, then upload that to the permanent family gallery.

The tank.

It is a Locust…like a tiny Sherman but designed for Airborne. Our version was the Tetrarch. But 6th Airborne used the Locust for Crossing of the Rhine…..

Hey, not bad for a Napoleonic enthusiast! (Grin)
