Tombstone and Wyatt Earp … I can't pick which is better …

Tombstone and Wyatt Earp are the most accurate, the earlier films though would seem to be better for oldwest skirmishes.

Ferd4523109 Dec 2017 3:12 p.m. PST

Tombstone by far. Having said that I got to give loads of love to John Ford's My Darling Clementine" H

Really, it's more a case of different dramatic interpretations of a series of historical events.

Best? I have no idea, I haven't seen 'em all. My favorite has to be Tombstone.

To me, the westerns above are not really comparable. I like films from different eras for different reasons; not really a sliding scale from better to best. I liked "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral" from the 50's because it fits in with the films I like from that time. From the 60's, I like "Hour of the Gun" because I grew up watching those types of westerns. That being said, I have watched "Tombstone" and "Wyatt Earp" numerous times and enjoy them a lot.

"Tombstone" hands done.

Ragbones09 Dec 2017 6:15 p.m. PST

I love a Tombstone but Hour of the Gun is very well done, too.

KSmyth09 Dec 2017 6:20 p.m. PST

I also love Tombstone, but Hour of the Gun was really good too. It's the only one that shows the trial of Wyatt Earp after the OK Corral. Wyatt Earp is really good too.

Sorry, thought that Gunfight at the OK Corral was bad from the Frankie Lane theme song right on to the end.

Tombstone.

My Darling clementine really shows it's age. Does not hold up well if you don't have a connection to it.
I can't stand Wyatt Earp. It's just boring.
The answer for me is easily Tombstone. One of my all time favourite westerns.

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP10 Dec 2017 3:56 a.m. PST

I like both Tombstone & Wyatt Earp.

Tombstone

My Darling Clementine is on just about every list of "100 Greatest Movies of…."
It's only problem is that it's not all that "historically accurate", if any movie about the Gunfight could be. To say it is 50% accurate is to be charitable. Many of the names used are accurate! grin It's a classic "based on a true story" movie.
But it's a magnificent movie.

Bashytubits10 Dec 2017 1:50 p.m. PST

Tombstone, about as good as a western can get.

Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957) has the best song by far….

redbanner414511 Dec 2017 7:44 a.m. PST

Tombstone's the best. I love My Darling Clementine. Gunfight at the OK Corral was the only movie my father ever took me to as a child.

Stephen Miller11 Dec 2017 9:51 a.m. PST

Tombstone. Of course I might be slightly biased as I graduated from Tombstone High School in 1964.That old high school (built in 1920) is still standing although not used as a school anymore, was about 1 block from the OK Corral.

"Spectre of the Gun" episode of Star Trek! +1

Doc: And you must be Ringo. Look, darling, Johnny Ringo. The deadliest pistoleer since Wild Bill, they say. What do you think, darling? Should I hate him?

Kate: You don't even know him.

Doc: Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of… me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.
