"In HATE, players control their Tribe in an ongoing effort to survive and thrive in the new world order. A Tribe is made up of different members like Warriors, Shamans, and Princes. Each has a role to play, and as the game develops, so too will their skills. In this world, conflict cannot be avoided, and Tribes Clash in the glory of battle again and again. While a full campaign, or Chronicle, of HATE can involve multiple different Tribes, each Clash will be a one-on-one bloodbath. The results of each Clash will carry forward and impact future encounters. Only after every Clash has been played will an ultimate winner be declared for that Chronicle"

That is an extremely poor choice for a game title. While it is true that hate can be a significant motivating factor in violent actions, including war, the vast majority of wargamers are not wanting to express or experience or even model hate in their gaming. I for one don't play because I want to hate something; I play because it is a pleasing experience spent with people who I enjoy being with. There will be many who won't be put off by the name, and a very small few who will be attracted to it. But I suspect the majority will not find it at all appealing, or at least not be drawn to the game for the title. "The name is unappealing, but I'll still try it," is not the best marketing position to start from. The makers should rethink it. In an case, I am thoroughly uninterested because of the name and the implications it has regarding the setting, rules, and experience of play. |

There is a pretty good reason for the name HATE, inspired by Adrian Smith's Chronicles of HATE graphic novel series. I like the look of the minis but I'm pretty fed up with all this Kickstarter stuff I miss the days companies just put out a finished product out that you could just buy and get a few days after ordering. |
