As part of my African themed adventures I have decided to build a couple of Hordes of the Things armies loosely based on the Adventures of Tarzan. There are still a few more types of critters I would like to represent, but these are the ones I have finished so far. A few of the miniatures are on sabot bases allowing me to use them for skirmish games such as In Her Majesty's Name, etc. First off is Tarzan on foot and mounted on Tantor (removable).
Tarzan, Kerchak and friends .
Great White Hunter and assistant, Waziri Tribesmen and Witchdoctor.
Some of the wildlife.
La and the Beastmen of Opar
Finally an African Dawn in 15mm

Wow, fantastic work. Love the grassy bases. Love the ash covered Waziri tribesmen and La. I've been trying to do pulp versions for a while. This is very encouraging to see what someone else has done.. Thank you for sharing. |

This is beautifully conceived and executed, including custom dice and measures. Great job and undoubtedly great game. |

As everyone writes, your page is exquisite. Great base terrain. Who makes the Tarzan, Jane, and La (?) figures? By the way who is La? Anyone make a Boy figure? And the Tarzan on elephant, is that a modified figure? |

Thanks for all the kind words. Both Tarzan miniatures are conversions using Zulu miniatures for the bodies and Saxon miniatures for the heads. Both pieces are by Essex Miniatures. The quiver and bow are made from greenstuff and a piece of scrap casting was used for the knife. I have a couple of Tarzan conversions, but this is my favourite. I also have the Tarzan miniature sets from Higlander Studios, which are nice miniatures and Kerchak is from one of these. link The elephant is by Xyston Miniatures. Tarzan can be removed as required. Jane is from the Cavemen and Women range by Khurasan. La is from the Martian Empires range by Black Hat Miniatures. La is a character from the Tarzan Novels. She is the queen and high priestess of Opar a lost city in Africa. link I have Boy figure, but I haven't painted him up yet. He is from Irregular Miniatures (15mm Colonials Range – African Civilians), but I have done a head swap using a young boys head from a miniature by Peter Pig. I plan to use the same young boy from Irregular, unconverted, for a 'Jungle Book' themed HotT army in the future. Next up though are a couple of elements for a regiment of the "Greys" — Kukuana warriors from King Solomon's Mines. |
