"A Colonel at Gettysburg and Spotsylvania". Came cross a 1st edition copy in an antique shop yesterday, leafed through it for five minutes and paid $100 USD for it without regret. Mining this book will take several months.

A very well done account by actual participants (company, regimental and brigade officer levels) which provides very detailed and interesting insights into regimental/brigade level tactics and troop reaction in combat.

The account of Spotsylvania and the Bloody Angle action is especially good.
