Would Miracle Max have been able to do something for him, Sir Gregor Clegane?

Perhaps instead of "true love", something else was keeping him alive, perhaps his true love of crushing skulls with his bare hands?

Or was he ALL dead?

I think the fantasies of S Morgenstern and George RR Martin have different takes on the "nearly dead".

However, Miracle Max and Qyburn were both presented with the opposite of a "Do not resuscitate" order, and did the best they could.
Jon Snow's case was different. He was "really dead", and it took the Red God to bring him back.

Did the Mountain die and come back to life in the books?

Winston Smith03 Dec 2017 3:05 p.m. PST

No, he was just mostly dead.

Fritz, that depends on how much backstory we're going to get on "Ser Robert Strong". Qyburn was taking care of Gregor, there was a public notice of death and "a very large skull" was sent to Sunspear that is supposedly his. So either he did die and Qyburn Frankensteined him back to life somehow, or he didn't die and has been brought back to fighting shape somehow.

(BOOK SPOLIER ALERT) The Mountain died in his duel with the Red Viper BUUUUT, Half-Master Qyburn got hold of his body and is practicing black arts re life/death (which got him kicked out of the Citidel). It's more the case of Frankenstien then magic…maybe.

Well let's hope medical tech will advance far enough by that time, that many can be "repaired" to good as new !
