I enjoyed Papelotte earlier today and recommend everyone see the many pictures. TMP link But what got me here is LHS, the interior. I am not sure I have ever before seen it portrayed as the size of a complex that it really is. We all tend to think of it as the Airfix model or some of the 28mm resin versions eg Hovels…which do capture the character so well. Even walking around the real farm, without seeing within (tragic) it is hard to appreciate that its footfall is the same as the Hougomont Chateau boundaries. This is great and I like the great barn correctly shown as shorter than the present structure. |

Always fun to see this work – truly a project of love (or madness). As to the size of LHS – totally agree. My heart has it as the Airfix model, which suits a wargamer's view, but the real thing is a massive working farm. And that size is only ever truly shown when skirmish scale scratch builders make it. Once in a while folk do attempt to show it nearer to its true dimensions, as seen above. But you only get one guess at the scale and then the country of origin, of the model below, in something of this quality. Bit pricier than the Airfix version mind you link Real courage is showing your product next to the real thing, as they do on their website

The main house roof looks too tall but otherwise looks good And without peeking, I will guess German and 1/72. |
