Anyone seen these? Are the Spears and Shields all (separate) fiddly little bits? Sure looks that way from the pics on the web site.

Just wondering how far into 18mm Territory they are.

Need Viking compatible with Essex & Peter Pig too.

(Have some Blue Moon, very nice indeed. Even if they have separate shields)

LH figures are always beautifully sculpted and a joy to paint. Where weapons and shields are separate, the figures have very nicely sculpted open hands which makes attaching the weapons or shield very easy, unlike some 15's where the hand is a solid blob that requires drilling or filing. Don't let the separate weapons and shields put you off.

Size wise, they are on the larger side of 15s and imho would not mix well with PP, even in separate units. While larger than Essex, they could be used in separate units without drawing a lot of attention. I think they would mix pretty well with BM although the sculpting is of higher quality and overall, LH are "cleaner" and better defined (I love BM and have a ton of their ACW, FIW and Napoleonics).

Giuseppe is a heck of a nice guy who makes a significant contribution to our hobby and deserves support. He is an old school, one man band doing all the work himself on a part time basis. I keep bugging him with fingers crossed to turn his talents to a Great Italian Wars range.

Hope that helps.

What Alcibiades has said, although I have mixed Essex and Legio Heroica in the same unit and once painted it is difficult to say which is which, from afar.

I love LH. Ordered medieval mounted from him, some of the best figures out there. I prefer the weapons and shields separate as it gives you more customization and I always feel that sculpted spears/lances are too fiddly.

I'm DONE with separate weapons in 15mm 4Wb; Spend as much time repairing the Armies every time I play as I did playing. Yes, they look nice, and actually, I prefer the drilled out hand so there is a "mechanical" bond, not just super glue.

Don't know if it is letting non-gamers handle them or what, but I can't put a DBA army on the table without a couple coming loose. And I can't buy any more brass wire to make the little spears/JLS at retail locally.

+1 on Legio Heroica quality and ease of painting

For the spears, I ground the butt, and glue it onto the base with epoxy. Normal playing has not removed any spears, but dropping the box onto tarmac did shake a couple loose

Legion Heroica are absolutely great, their sculpts are lovely and they paint up very nicely!

I have crusaders and Islamic armies
