During the 7YW how many flags were there in each French battalion? And if there was no Colonel's how many Ordonnance flags were carried? |

Two per battalion. Either one Leib and one Regimental or two Regimental in 2nd, 3rd and 4th battalions, if they had that many. |

Note that the Swiss in French service kept the practice of company colours, so for them it would be four per battalion… In practice I find that for wargame units, the number of flags that "looks right" will depend on figure size and unit strength. |

Indeed Musketier, I have opted just to have 1 flag for my 16 man 15mm battalions, 2 looked just too cluttered! |

Musketier, most of my French battalions are 60 figures (Prussian & Austrian are 75 figures) so 4 flags for Swiss is a possibility. I did 1 "test regt." ….the Reding. What do yawl think?
It would be easy to add 2 flags per battalion. My Prussians have 5 flags for each battalion….and I like it! See below
That is the main reason I asked the question. Thanks for the input. Cheers |

Simply noted that french flag were on second rank, in center of the 7th peloton (15th & 7th companies) . Colonel flag on right et ordonnance flag on left.

At 1:10 your battalions are truly impressive, and absolutely deserve their full complement of flags in my view! (Sorry to be so late in responding – real life intrusion…) |
