I have two questions regarding group basing in Gruntz 15mm.

I'm experimenting with the group basing option described in the rulebook. Cover is explained quite well, but fighting is not, IMHO.
Let's say more than half of my unit's group base is being in cover giving me a +1 modifier to my guard statistic. How many of my covered grunts may fire?
One group base has touched another after a succesful charge. Do all my Gruntz get an attack? (Or for example, do you make a difference if only one half of the base is touching an enemy one?)

The group basing seems odd, since the Gruntz still act individually. I'd like to know how you and your groups play this and what your experiences are. Thanks in advance!

It's a while since I used them. But if I recall correctly it was half of the normal Gruntz squad with basic ranged weapons. We kept all standard Gruntz squads to standard squads of six so three could fire. All upgrades were on seperate base just to help with the issue.
It was for a WW2 version we all tried so FOW were used.
Cheers Matt

Thanks, Matt! This answers my question for shooting.

Since you played WWII I suppose you didn't have a lot of assaults, but maybe you thought about that too… Did you consider to not allow all of the gruntz a close combat attack in sppecial situtations or would you have everybody able to attack if the traget unit is in assault range? (This would make CC a lot deadlier than with individually based miniatures)
I was even thinking about making the unit use a die roll to see how many Gruntz can attack.
