I have just completed a listing of all the manufacturers of WW1 28mm figures that I could find.

I have listed them as the various makers describe them, which can obviously be a bit inconsistent! But it does stop picky wargamers complaining that I have suggested they can use figure ‘X' when clearly the ammo pouches are wrong!

Anyway. If you want to buy, for example, early war Germans in spikey hats, this will tell you who makes them…

Thank you for taking the time to compile this most helpful list.

In addition, Old Glory makes an extensive range of mostly late war figures including American, Austro-Hungary, British, French, German, Italians, Serbians, Montenegro and Russians.

The Copplestone range also includes Gurkhas for the Middle East although, and this is equally true of his Indian soldiers, these do not include Lewis gunners.

Big Red, would you know if those Old Glory figures are actually made by Old Glory? I only ask because the WW2 range also listed under 'modern wars' are actually West Wind figures.

I have to admit I didn't find this lot when I looked at the Old Glory site because 'modern', to me, implies post-WW2!

22nd, thanks. I missed them because they only seem to do a pack or two of Gurkhas.

My early WW1 are Renegade Miniatures, they do late WW1 also.

Yes they are actually made by Old Glory. I have painted hundreds – medication has yet to help.

I have hundreds of Renegade Miniatures early WW1 figures too (see medication warning label above) but the website says:

"Apologies for any inconvenience, but we have had to close the website down for a short time. We hope to be back in the new year."

+1 Big Red! The medication didn't help when I built a portion of Vimy Ridge to go along with my Old Glory figures.

And beautifully done it was, Thomas!

Excellent list, Cerdic. A note of warning: one company's idea of how bit a 28mm should be is not necessarily the same as another's! In particular, Wargames Foundry and Old Glory WWI figures are quite tiny compared to the offerings from other companies. Copplestone's Gurkhas tower over the Eureka Gurkhas. That said, most of the rest are middling in size, and can fit together on the table without too much trouble.

Cheers and thanks for making the list!
