Is this the full BTLB3 rules? If so, I am a happy bunny!

VicCina26 Nov 2017 7:26 a.m. PST

New rules or scenario book?

jocknroll26 Nov 2017 7:49 a.m. PST

Rule book.. this is BLB 3rd Edition. The book is themed around the campaigns in Ireland but is not specific to that theatre. It is the full blown V3.

I must be having a bad day because I don't follow this. The book is themed on Ireland but in fact is a full blown rule book covering Eastern Europe, Ottoman warfare, The Great Northern War etc. Is that correct?

There will be a second book dealing with GNW. I'm unsure what this one covers except Western Europe 1680-1720

jocknroll26 Nov 2017 3:04 p.m. PST

The War of Three Kings will have the core rule system with which players can play BLB3. We will provide two themed supplements with some theatre mods for Central European Wars 1670-1720, WSS and GNW but the core book will provide pretty much everything needed for current and new users of BLB.

So what does the GNW book give? Is it just a supliment? Or does that one have the core mechanics too?
Doesn't matter for me. I'm getting both.

jocknroll26 Nov 2017 4:58 p.m. PST

Well, we just need to get this one out first.. but..

it will have supplementary rules on formations, shooting, combat and morale plus rules for irregular cavalry, lances, bows etc
scenarios and other useful bits and pieces.

Thanks for the explanation jockandroll. I look forward to buying both publications.

Nice! Looking forward to version 3. Will it be immediately available here in the U.S. when released in the U.K.?

I too plan on buying v3 and the two theater mods.

Excellent rule system

Should be available in the US more or less when it is released in the UK. As a 'Transatlantic' brand we like to instil some balance into our endeavours!

I find it somewhat vexing that my overwhelming interests in this era, the WSS and the GNW, are relegated to subsidiary status. Even BLB 2's focus on the NYW is off-putting. Why the fascination with obscure topics?

jocknroll27 Nov 2017 2:46 p.m. PST

Shining the light makes topics less obscure. I think the answer is in your question… your interest, not mine

gunnertog27 Nov 2017 3:25 p.m. PST

I think the GNW has had rather a lot of coverage lately, with several ranges of figures now on the market & certainly in the case of Warfare Miniatures, a continuing project.
