Do you use makeup cases for wargaming storage? The big kind with handles, latches, and inner trays on risers.

Nope.

I do use tackle boxes and crafting boxes. Cross-stitchers have tons of neat, stackable and modular compartmentalized storage doo-whackies.

I just converted one to use for holding painting supplies. It's a Samsonite, possibly this model:

I put paint bottles, glue tubes, stirring sticks and marking pens in the top tray. The main body got X-acto knife set, cutting board, palettes (plastic yogurt tops), brushes (in a cylinder), magnifying glass, and pliers (for opening recalcitrant paint jars).

It's a good size to carry to a convention or a painting day. I have a big catalogue case that still holds a lot of stuff, but I think that the Samsonite case will be easier to take out and use.

The catalogue case looks something like this, like an oversized briefcase:

Yes, I have 2 with solid bodies and one with a soft shell, both hold full 15mm armies (ancients & WW2), rule books and dice.

I just got a hold of one from Mary Kay. It's very nice. I'm looking for foam trays that I could use with the interior rails.

I did actually bring my orange makeup case to Kublacon and spent some happy hours painting when I didn't get into a game!
