My memory is just good enough to get me in trouble. Somewhere, there is a stray paragraph or two in a Charles Grant or Charles S. Grant which has a point system of five or six unit types, more or less in line with the unit types in "Scenarios for Wargames." Does anyone remember which book? Or remember the points? Thanks. |

I know the thin black magazine style edition does. It's just the rules rather than the lovely to read original version. |

Drat! I have two copies of The War Game, two copies of The War Game Companion, all three scenario books, and ALL the Teasers--but not the thin black edition. Yet I know I have read the point system. MC, would it be an imposition or a violation of copyright to quote it? As I recall, it was only five troop types and a single-digit number for each. |

The only thing in the slim booklet is an explanation of the morale values for the units based on officer figures. No points values. In one of his older scenario books he mentions 1 point for line, 2 for cavalry, 3 for a gun but he is only illustrating the idea. I don't think it is a system. |

My copy of The Wargame has gone into hiding. However, I did find my copy of Charge!, which is similar. Here are the point values they show: Cavalry regiment (light or heavy) 210 points Field Batteries 140 points Grenadier Regiments 210 points Line Infantry Regiments 150 points Light Infantry Battalion 140 points Militia Battalions 65 points Engineer Battalion 120 points This is in the Morale --Fieldworks --Game Mechanics chapter Grelber |

I stand corrected! So where were those d*mn*d elusive points values? Just had a go at: The Wargame The Wargame (thin booklet) Scenarios for Wargames And Wargames Campaigns Not the best indexed if at all but I found naught. Programmed Scenarios for Wargames has points values for WRG sorts of rules but only gives battalions/regiments/batteries for horse and musket. Am I completely misremembering? The points values I have in mind are very simple single digit numbers that the three digit Young and Lawford type. Perhaps its some other author in which case pardon :) |

I think the single-digit points are mentioned in "Scenarios For All Ages." I don't have it with me to confirm. |

The 1-2-3 I mentioned above is in the introduction to Scenarios for Wargames. |
