According to this website there is no record of when the Danish naval ensign was adopted but it was a long time ago. link This Danish picture of the Battle of Copenhagen in 1801 would suggest that you're fine with that one. link |

The color in ModelJShip's link seems wrong, crimson rather than scarlet. |

The reference cited explicitly notes that the color of the nasal ensigns (etc) is a deeper red (i.e., closer to crimson) than the usual scarlet of the Dannebrog; interesting! |
