"The first hat I ever saw was worn by Father Lawrence, an elderly priest who said Mass for the rubber-plantation workers in the Kerala village where I spent a Catholic childhood. When he came to our house for coffee, he lifted the curiously rounded hat and bowed with grave courtesy, a gesture I remember vividly because we did not know of such things then. Interesting. I do seem to recall reading a long time ago of how the Portuguese found that many of the locals were already Christian, and had been for many centuries.

Another revelation to be classed beside the fact that water is wet and dice can often roll the same number twice in a row.

Note: The apostle Thomas walked from Palestine to India starting churches as he went. There were 5 surviving churches in India that were started by him.

"Another revelation … "

And yet, even to some locals there, it is a revelation.

Funny how some things get "forgotten", and have to be re-discovered.

There are tons of Christians in India – no surprise there

In fact, our previous associate pastor was from India – he went from our church to start up a monastery in a little town in county

That they are there, or their number, isn't a surprise to most people. The very early date of these groups is.
