We put on our Raphia game at MillenniumCon this weekend in Austin. Two games were played on Saturday using a modified version of GMT's Great Battles of History rules. More description can be found here - dukewacoan.wordpress.com Both games played very smooth despite no one knowing the rules ahead of time. 5 players per side on a 6x18 foot table.
Raphia17 by DukeWacoan, on Flickr 17 elephant models rampaged around (1:10 historical ratio)
Raphia2 by DukeWacoan, on Flickr The final results were both Ptolemaic victories, although only slight. The end result of the first game had the Egyptians within loss of 1 unit of an army break with the Seleucids broke first.
Raphia9 by DukeWacoan, on Flickr I would highly recommend folks trying out the GBoH rules modified for miniatures (which really only means converting hexes to inches). |

Looks absolutely stunning! You mention GBOH- no hexes though? |
DukeWacoan | 13 Nov 2017 2:32 p.m. PST |
Correct. No hexes. Instead of "1 hex" used "100 paces", which in turn was 6cm (you'll see the Red/White measuring stick in 6cm increments). Facing was similar. A 45degree turn is equivalent to facing change of 1 hex. Must Shock if within 100p to your Front. Horse cannot come within 100p of the Front of elephant units. Must take a TQ check if attempting to change facing within 200p of enemy front. Command ranges per 100p, etc, etc. The conversion from hexes was very clean. |

It was a most excellent game despite the premature demise of my Seleuccid phalanx. |

It was extremely impressive to see in person, pictures can not do it any justice. Great game and beautiful figures – great job Jim and company. |
