This would have been handy when I was studying geography at school many years ago :)

That said, I'm guessing the Ucayali river in Peru

It looks like the Ukayali river, which is somewhere in South America, I think. link

WOW, very good catch! In the middle of nowhere, so the changes in the river beds aren't man-made due development upstream. Excellent.

Some people think that buying riverside or beachside property will always give them the same view of the water. And if it changes, it must always be the government's fault.

That's exactly the first thing I noticed too, the lakes. It reminded me of two similar lakes in our area.

It is cool to see the other remnants of the river on the topo map when it was in different areas.
