Pre-ordered the main box and Gang War. Very excited. My only concern is that the other gangs won't come out fast enough to draw people in who don't find the two in the box appealing. |
Pictors Studio | 11 Nov 2017 2:11 p.m. PST |
It is odd that we haven't even seen previews of any of the other gangs. I would have thought they would have put out a new gang every week or so to keep up the interest. That would get them through Christmas with this at least. They have another 6 or more gangs to release, plus Bounty Hunters and so forth. |
noigrim | 11 Nov 2017 2:29 p.m. PST |
Any idea when will we have cawdors? |
The Beast Rampant | 11 Nov 2017 2:50 p.m. PST |
Already got some- but new ones would be nice. Even if it is very popular, this is still a secondary opperation, and they just released Shadespire, too. I hope to see other gangs soon, but I wouldn't doubt that it may be drug out a bit. IIRC, I played quite a few games with just Orlock and Goliath back then. I had to pine over the little pics of my beloved Cardor for some time before I got them, and I think they were the first wave of subsequent gangs. I'm sure Gang War will have some eye candy for us. I've preordered the base game and GW at my FLGS. |
Pictors Studio | 11 Nov 2017 3:14 p.m. PST |
I got my FLGS to hold one of the base games for me too. I got caught out on the Shadow Wars thing and didn't want to have to scramble this time. Those sold out fast and I was lucky to get one. I have a Cawdor gang too. I'll have to dig them out. I actually have no idea where they are right now.

I don't need the boxed game. I'm going to wait until the rules from the game are available separately. I'm hoping for a proper big book with the rules and gang war supplement in one. Any word on if this is coming anytime soon? |
nvdoyle | 11 Nov 2017 6:14 p.m. PST |
The Necromunda site has a spot for 'Legacy Gang Rules' that isn't active yet… |

Just when I thought I escaped, GW drags me back in… |
The H Man | 12 Nov 2017 4:57 a.m. PST |
Speaking of dragging. The past tense of drag is dragged, not drug. Although, how the beast used it, drawn may work better. English is confusing, hence the thick books about it. |
Pictors Studio | 12 Nov 2017 10:04 a.m. PST |
It looks like the gangs are going to be released at a much slower rate than I thought. The plan is to put one out every quarter. So Orlocks are up next and won't be out until 2018 apparently. They will be releasing characters and so forth in between though. That is a pretty slow release schedule and is going to make it tough for new players to have much in the way of tournaments for a while I would think. It seems like if they even had 4 gangs out by Christmas that would be much better. |
kallman | 12 Nov 2017 11:43 a.m. PST |
I am waiting this one out. I have all the old rule books and my Spyer Gang all painted up. It will be interesting to see if the third tier market sees an increase or decrease in the price of the older gang and character models in E-bay and other venues. My group I game with has most of the gangs (again, all painted) so if we do get the urge to run a Necromunda campaign we can give it a go. I am just not seeing enough right now that would convince me to purchase the new game. I would rather see GW revamp Epic and there were rumors a while back about Battle Fleet Gothic. Again, with BFG I have all the rule books and a complete fleet and friends with fleets. Wish I had not divested of my Epic stuff however. Trying to get back in is now too cost prohibitive due to the rarity of the models. Well we will see how this pans out and looking forward to reading unboxing and review reports on how the current version of Necromunda plays. I know back in the day we had some fun games but the campaign always petered out especially if one or more gangs took too a bad hit and the player felt he could not recover. |
SeattleGamer | 12 Nov 2017 12:17 p.m. PST |
I already pre-ordered everything! Very much looking forward to this. Have been for a long, long time. I was hoping for a new gang every 2 months or so. That would give them 2018 and 2019 to slowly release everything, at a pace that is just enough to keep the game in players minds, and get more people joining in. I know the Gang War book has the rules for fighting over 3D terrain (instead of just tiles), and campaign stuff, and apparently all of the rules needed for the six classic gangs. So armed with that rulebook, people with the old models have everything they need to play one of the six original gangs. I have not found anything yet one when/if they plan to release Scavvies, Ratskins, Spyrers or any of the expansion gangs from old. |
The H Man | 12 Nov 2017 2:41 p.m. PST |
Hmm… I wander if it's by accident that orlocks are next to be realesed. Considering they are the one gang that most looks like a 40k unit in jungle fighters. This prevents people keen to stay cannon just using jungle fighters and has them buy the new figs instead. All the others are harder to substitute, at least from 40k. Gangs on ebay are fetching big money. Escher i was checking mostly. Seems not only can people just use old figures, but that may be what many intend to do. I wander how later sales of gangs far down the track on the release list will go if people have already made a gang from old models or conversions or other brands. Will they want to dump their loved and upgraded figs for back to scratch models? |
Pictors Studio | 12 Nov 2017 3:05 p.m. PST |
I'm really hoping that they plan to re-release the Spyrers. They were something that I missed out on the first time around and I think they would really work well in how we play around here. Only a few days now until I can get my copy. Looking forward to it. I might dig my Delaques out tonight if I can find them. |
kallman | 12 Nov 2017 4:00 p.m. PST |
Scott let us know how it plays. |
The H Man | 12 Nov 2017 4:07 p.m. PST |
Yeah. Some dot points on differences and some on similarities to the older rules would be nice. |
Pictors Studio | 13 Nov 2017 6:57 a.m. PST |
The first of the bounty hunters will be available for pre-order on Friday. link A beastman of all things, and a re-imagining of a classic figure to boot. |
The Beast Rampant | 13 Nov 2017 8:30 a.m. PST |
Thanks, I saw the mini detailed in the latest WD, but didn't think to check Forge World for new Necromunda. I love that old mini- he was my sergeant major. But appearntly he was DD'ed, or had a hard time living on his pension. Once again, thumbs up to the New GW for paying proper respect to their humbler beginnings. |
The H Man | 13 Nov 2017 11:36 p.m. PST |
It had to happen eventually. And not without prior criticism. I'm sure they learnt their lesson. But time will tell. |
Centurio Prime | 14 Nov 2017 7:11 a.m. PST |
What is this new conspiracy theory about Jungle Fighters? The Jungle Fighters models look pretty bad, if anything people would be glad to use Orlocks in 40k to substitute for Jungle Fighters. That's IF they even did look like Jungle Fighters. Orlocks aren't over muscled and bare chested. They do wear vests, and do have headbands and bandannas which are some similarities. I'm pretty sure they are doing Orlocks next because they were one of the two gangs in the original boxed set, and a lot of people liked them. |
Pictors Studio | 14 Nov 2017 7:46 a.m. PST |
Yeah, it is a pretty stupid theory. The over muscled gang is the Goliaths and they are released first. If I were using Catachans for anything it would be Goliaths. But as far as those theories go, it is pretty par for the course. |
15mm and 28mm Fanatik | 14 Nov 2017 12:02 p.m. PST |
If I were using Catachans for anything it would be Goliaths. The "overmuscled" Goliaths wouldn't be Goliaths if they're not the iron-pumping, steroid-enhanced brutes that they are. And they fit the futuristic dystopia of Mad Max and Judge Dredd so well (as do the Eschers). I wouldn't dream of replacing them with anything else. But to each his own. The Jungle Fighters models look pretty bad, if anything people would be glad to use Orlocks in 40k to substitute for Jungle Fighters. The initial baby Ogryns have ugly faces but otherwise look okay. Just replace the heads of the JF squad with the ones from the later released command squad (with much better head sculpts). Orlocks wear headbands like Catachans but lack their "military" appearance. So I would only consider head swaps. Catachan JF squad:

The H Man | 14 Nov 2017 1:38 p.m. PST |
True the first goliaths had jungle fighters in their ranks. Not sure what orlocks had but I expect them or other guard models. You guys pick a 40k models that look most like a yet to be released gang. Jungle fighters (or other guard) and orlocks may have the strongest similarity. I would have expected them to release more exotic looking gangs like drlaques or cowdor. This would be more visually interesting than chaps with guns, like orlocks. And a special thanks to pics and his, surprisingly, not stupid comment that the goliaths look like jungle fighters. Hence them being released first, to avoid people just using jungle fighters. Very savvy pics. |
Centurio Prime | 15 Nov 2017 5:07 a.m. PST |
If all the Jungle Fighters were done to the standard that the command squad is, I would buy a small army of them. I owned some of each (have since sold them) and the sculpting/proportions on the command squad are much better. I'm not convinced that Goliaths were released first to keep people from using jungle fighters, that doesn't really make sense. If people were going to use jungle fighters, they would use them regardless. |
Cloves | 15 Nov 2017 6:00 a.m. PST |
are the Goliaths in the core box, different models than in the actual Goliath gang box? |
Pictors Studio | 15 Nov 2017 7:40 a.m. PST |
No, the ones that come in the core box are exactly the same figures as those that come in the Goliath box. So if you are getting the core box, unless you just want more figures or want figures with more options to substitute later in the campaign, there is no reason to get the Goliath box set. "I'm not convinced that Goliaths were released first to keep people from using jungle fighters, that doesn't really make sense." Of course they weren't. It is a silly idea. The closest gang to the Catachans is the Goliaths but they would still require too much conversion for someone to really bother going through the process when the cost difference is not that significant. When you consider that the Goliaths are $40 USD and just a box of the Jungle Fighters is $29 USD and then you need the bits and time to convert them, it just doesn't make sense that someone would make the release schedule to compensate for it. Sure some people might do the conversions because they can't wait or just have some really good ideas, but probably not many and the idea that a major company would base their release schedule on something like that is sub-moronic. You're right, if they were going to use Catachans, they would use them regardless. |
15mm and 28mm Fanatik | 15 Nov 2017 8:57 a.m. PST |
the sculpting/proportions on the command squad are much better. The same goes for the Cadians. The original infantry squads are beefier and have a more caricatured look. The plastic command squads released much later seem to have been done by a different sculptor because of the noticeable difference in style and more realistic proportions. |
Centurio Prime | 16 Nov 2017 5:15 a.m. PST |
True, I sold all my Cadians recently because I was tired of their fat thighs and pumpkin heads. I was hoping for some kind of new guard releases along with their new codex, but it didn't happen. So I went with Tempestus Scions now. |
15mm and 28mm Fanatik | 16 Nov 2017 12:07 p.m. PST |
@Centurio Prime If you can afford it and don't mind resin, check out the "Not Cadians" Arcadians from Victoria Miniatures: link They come in both male and female flavors, and hark back to the original 1990's-era Cadians sculpted by the Perry twins. They've even redone other beloved IG/AM regiments GW neglected like the Mordian Iron Guard: link Praetorians: link as well as never released famous regiments in 40K lore like the Savlar Chem Dogs: link |
Centurio Prime | 16 Nov 2017 12:11 p.m. PST |
I have some of Victoria's stuff but because I like to go to tournaments I like to use GW stuff for my main units, in case anyone wants to be a stickler (not a problem yet). |
The H Man | 16 Nov 2017 11:23 p.m. PST |
Typical pics. Missing the point as usual and using inappropriate and insulting language too boot. Why would someone compare prices on non existent product? If they did not release goliaths or orlocks there would no nothing to price and people who wanted the gangs and did not have access to the old ones could and probably would just use guard. Just because you would not do it does not mean others would not. |
