Just to say that I ordered a copy of the first volume of "The First Colonial Soldiers" by Wienand Drenth and Lt Gen Jonathon Riley, from Wienand (who is a member of this forum and lives in The Netherlands) and received it today within a week of my request. It is, on initial reading, an excellent tome (I bought it primarily for the information on the British garrison of Tangiers, 1660-1684) and I thoroughly recommend it.

In addition to the timely delivery of the book, I was also delighted to be told I now qualify for a discount on the second volume (published in two parts).

Thank you, Wienand.

Great books, I'd say essential for anyone with an interest in the military history of British colonies from 1650-1714.

I bought them for the information on India and Tangier, but also enjoyed reading about the forces in the Americas.

I'd agree, I bought these when they originally came out. Wienand was a great guy to do business with.

Can't recommend him highly enough…
