The 1756 Campaigning Season was drawing to an end. Although there had been 4 battles of note….none had provided a result that satisfied either of the combatants.
The Austrians were desperate for a win that would "demonstrate" their ability to beat Frederick and the Prussians. While the Prussians had been unable to "knock" the Austrians out of the war….for now!
Please read the AAR at:

Attached are a view of the battle highlights:
The first one is of the Austrians having "morale issues"

I am interested in your questions, input, and opinions…..to make the games better!

Bloody butcher's bill I see, especially for the poor Austrians but at least they managed to eliminate "3 generals dead (YES!AGAIN! this time… Hulsen, Manstein, & von Kleist)"

Howdy randy51!
Yes indeed! Generals are very important in our games…they can add as much as plus 3 to morale checks…or subtract 3 if they get killed…which can be a decisive swing! They also can positively/negatively influence the time it takes to "react" or change formation! There also is a limit to how many you can have on the battle field….no stockpiling! So in this battle losing the top 3 of 4 means it is very difficult to change orders….or in this case the Prussians could not go from the defensive to offense…no following up Austrian routing infantry!
Cheers

My favorite picture… it shows 1st and 2nd lines… ammunition wagons and "dead" Gen. Hulsen:

I've been gaming the 7yw since the 70's and your set up's, troops and over all table appearance really capture the peroid. I've always favored the Austro-Hungarians,…..just many, many good & solid fighting regiments who unfortunately had to face someone like a frederick.

Thanks randy51!
I also love the Austro- Hungarians…especially their Grenz, Hussars, Kurassiers, and line Hungarian infantry. A couple of years ago I bought a book from Hungary that has…. beautiful drawings of the Hungarian units. If you don't have it…you can get it from:
OnMilitary Matters:1-211040 Somogyi, Gyozo

HUNGARIAN SOLDIERS OF MARIA THERESA: 1740 – 1768

Unfortunately I don't get to play the Austro-Hungarians much. But I do love them…I have painted 18 Kurassier, 10 Hussar, 10 Dragoon, 8 Grenz, and 50 infantry regts….I GOT TO GET A BIGGER TABLE!! LOL.
