Which movies would you love to see in the movie room at a wargaming show or convention?

Winston Smith08 Nov 2017 6:19 p.m. PST

All the ones that Belle and Blade only show snippets of.
They do a lot of foreign extravaganzas like the Polish The Deluge.

Or maybe Ridley Scott's The Duelists.

Kubrick's Barry Lyndon.

All of Ioan Gryffud's Hornblower series.

princeman08 Nov 2017 6:25 p.m. PST

13th Warrior
The Magnificent Seven
Iwo Jima
Apocalypse Now
Paths of Glory

Gettysburg
Battle of the Bulge

At multi media shows there are now four video rooms. One for Anime, one TV or Dr Who and two for movies.
I have seen a wide range of movies at shows. Hard to list just a few. Those I listed would be personal favorites rather than based on commonality.

P.S. Actually, I wouldn't be disappointed to see most of the movies others have listed.

But sometimes it's fun to watch movies with an all-wargamer audience! evil grin

The early years of Gencon, the would show 16mm movies, in the main mini room, at the Horticultural Hall. (While we were playing) Waterloo, Zulu, Tota, Tora, Tora were viewed.

My buddy and I always bring an Xbox and an assortment of movies.

The winners this year were…

Gettysburg
Master and Commander
Deadwood
The Patriot (terrible, but fun!)

Ryan and BoB are perfect choices too.

During an FoW mega-game,the store owner and GM for the game, put on the DVD of "A Bridge Too Far" (since we were doing Market Garden/Bridge By Bridge). Another dude, for his Gettysburg Soldiers Ft. Wagner battle, had on "Glory",another time The Duke's Alamo movie, and yet another "The Horse Soldiers". For laughs,I wouldn't mind seeing "Advance To the Rear".
