Have you ever tried to use telepathy in Sci Fi scenarios?

I used it as an flavoring aspect of ECM in spotting in that androids aren't subject to it. |

I knew you were going to post this. That's not telepathy--that's precognition.

Sci fi and Fantasy, both. Honestly, a lot of sci fi comms are fundamentally telepathy, as they follow no laws of physics, but rather the laws of drama (they only don't work when it is important to the plot that they don't work, and they always do work if they would slow the plot if they didn't). |

I have written house rules for use of the basic Traveller psionics talents (telepathy, telekinesis, teleportation, clairvoyance) in StarGrunt. The Zhodani and Droyne integrate psionically talented personnel into their military forces. I haven't run a scenario involving the Droyne, but I have run many games involving Zhodani units. Telepathy is primarily a form of communication that can't be jammed. It also allows a leader a DM of +1 to the rally action. The armor of Imperial troops has psionic shielding, preventing telepathic contact (as well as most telekinetic attacks). Telepathic interrogation requires a trained interrogator, and time in a secure environment with the prisoner. That is, it won't happen on a typical battlefield. Telepathy can be used in conjunction with other psionic talents. For example, a clairvoyant can see a suitable landing spot for a teleportation adept, and a telepath can link the thoughts of the clairvoyant and the teleportation adept. |

Telepathy is primarily a form of communication that can't be jammed. QILS (our ruleset) has a generic C&C function that confers combat bonuses and could be jammed, but requires specific allocation in force stats. Each C&C network has a type and a "channel", so it is up to the scenario (1) what the C&C mechanism is (psionic, headsets, hand signals, etc.), and (2) which "channels" are affected by which "jammers". I like this on the technology as well as the psionic side. |

"Telepathy is primarily a form of communication that can't be jammed." Oh but it can be. You just have to drag along your own telepath (who's hyped up on sugar and hallucinigens and broadcasting his/her/its thoughts wildly) to disrupt any other nearby telepaths… ;-) |

Yeah, aluminum foil. That's why I never leave home without it. Dan |

I'm with the Amazing Randi on this one. Better 2 tin cans and a string, besides, like CC says, a tinfoil hat can jam ANY PSI. Anyone who disagrees is probably crawling with Alien RFID chips and have suffered through dozens of unwanted colonoscopies. |
