Looking to fill out an army list for Dragon Rampant on the cheap, possibly use them for Frostgrave as well. Mainly need 48 Spearmen and 24 Archers, 12 mounted. Anyone able to point me somewhere that won't break the bank?

Sorry for the double post.

Wargames factory would be your best bet, but they are currently unavailable.

Reaper Bones? link

@herkybird
The old Wargames Factory ones were cheap, but fragile and a pain in the rear to assemble. They were better for use as terrain embelishments than as minis.

But, the Reaper Bones ones are cheap, but they suffer from all of the Reaper Bones issues.

Personally, I'd suggest going with a couple of the Mantic Skeletons and get some bows off of either ebay or bitz stuff.

For mounted, you probably need to go a bit more expensive one way or another…

they suffer from all of the Reaper Bones issues.

I have 3 of the bones skeletal spearmen, and 3 of the archers. All 6 I had to use the "dip in boiling water" method to soften the plastic and hold till cooled to straighten out the weapons that had become badly misshapen from sitting in the packaging.

The Mantic Skeletons look good, perhaps more detailed than I'd like, although they'd look amazing to add for variety. I'm looking for mostly bare skeletons armed with a simple spear or bow, something I could prime and paint in a big batch.

One of the least expensive, will be Prince August molds for skeletons. True 25mm, and metal. The molds are around $16 USD each. The Model Metal gives the best castings, yielding around 10 foot figures per bar.

I used these molds, and Model Metal, 20 years ago. I played out the Battle of Five Armies, which required 60 Wolf figures… I cast them up, without issue, painted them, and played the battle with them. Afterwards, I sold a number of the figures on e-Bay. The rest I used Caesar fantasy Goblins to provide nice riders for the remaining Wolves. Back then, I was spending approximately $0.39 USD per figure, for metal alone. At $7 USD per bar, for 10 figures, that works out to be roughly $0.70 USD/figure. Add up the cost of the molds, and any other equipment you might need, to get the set-up cost. Once you have the proper set-up equipment, it is just a matter of buying the molds, and the metal…

The molds are good for around 500 castings, so they will last a good, long time, producing more figures than you are likely to need. They have two different foot Skeleton molds as well as a mounted Skeleton, however the horse mount is flesh and bone, but could be painted as a Zombie Horse, if desired. Cheers!

A second, even less expensive option, would be to purchase Caesar Undead. They are 1/72 scale figures, so 22mm-25mm tall. They are plastic, but they will paint up nicely. They typically sell for around $14.70 USD for 36 figures, or $0.41 USD/figure.

If you can work with their smaller size, they are the best deal going. Cheers!

There are a few sites out there with sales on Mantic Kings of War Undead

Mantid are best option, cheap AND easy to assemble. A couple of options among skeletons, revenants, and others.

For Undead Archers I would go with these.

21 figures for under $30. USD

For Cavalry I would go with Mantic's Undead.

You would not go wrong with Mantic's other Undead either.
