Hi all,

What, if any 'Golden rules' do you apply to Horse and Musket warfare?

I would start with some of my favourites:

(1) Cavalry should always be attacking or retreating, never standing in proximity to the enemy.
(2) Always have a reserve.
(3) Place your artillery where it will do the most good!
(4) Never deploy in or behind difficult terrain unless you are defending it!
(5) Ensure there is good co-ordination between Horse, Foot, and the Artillery.

Any more?

6) Always have either a horse or a musket.

7) Make sure that Sharpe bloke is on your side…

8) Don't fight the Russians. It always ends in tears.

If you can't see the enemies hussars, look behind you, they're sneaky.

9) Irregulars used correctly can be very dangerous.
