Now this is why I get grief for my postings, of what are basically images, that belong on the Gallery, onto Discussions.

I want someone to see them. Why else do it? Tangos gets away with it.

So let me save Tango here and "discuss" instead.

The terms Dutch (even less Belgo) did not apply in Napoleonic times. There was Spanish and Austrian Netherlands, there was North and South Neth, there was Walloon and Brabant and I reckon, at least, four or five other terms for what is now around Brussels………..

It would be fun to think of every name applied to the "Low Countries"…mostly by the Govt of the UK…GB……or whatever that was called back then, before my birthplace decided this whole thing was a bad idea.

What a bunch of eejets they all were. Even to this day. I have been told off for speaking French to a lad when buying a rail ticket to Braine l'Alleud. He was younger than my sons, it was Brussels Midi, but it meant something to him….get a life lad.

Finally, let me "discuss". This is a brilliant model in this tiny scale. It would apply if one was fighting in a town centre in Brussels or Bruges…but most buyers throw dice….and FIBUA (Fighting in a Built Up Area) is not to be expected!

Dutch Republic existed from late 16th century right up to 1795, so no reason why this house should not be described as "Dutch". I agree "Belgian" might be a bit more controversial, as country did not exist until 1830, but the area was " Gallia Belgica" in Roman times. Perhaps Steve should have gone for "Low Countries townhouse"?
However described, it is, as are most of the pieces from Battlescale, a nicely modelled piece of work and, even if my soldiers don't actually fight in a town, a few of these would enhance the table.
