Hello all, So I finished the GZG Marcs & decided to paint me some Khurasan Gota Clans Infantry ( which I had for ages) , GZG Japanese Power Armour & Brigade Mercs vehicles. The Gota clans have an oriental vibe to them , so coupled with the Brigade & GZG I decided to do a Japanese Corporation themed force. Still have to paint the vehicles The Gota minis have some nice detail to them , as is usual for Khurasan ( sometimes I think it is overkill ). I tried a new speed painting system, which works & I finished them in a week or so. Still have to base them , though. Great minis. The Brigade Sohei Hy Tank , Shaman Med Tank & Wizard Jeeps are great minis. I don't usually buy multiples of vehicles as I prefer to build my own but if I were to have loads of tanks I would definitely choose the Shaman. Kudos to the designers. Infantry is another thing altogether, I love Infantry. The other vehicles I would get loads of are AA's Btr260 & 290 Apc's. I fitted 5mm x 1 magnets on both the Shaman & the Sohei as the turrets, especially the latter one are heavy. I also had to fit a shield ( support ) under the Sohei's gun as it wouldn't stay in place even when I glued it with 5 min Epoxy glue. I had a spare Sohei hull so I decided to build a large Apc/ Command vehicle. I like the Wizard jeeps design so I decided to build me a grav truck . Not decided whether I will fit the X panels on the side & rear or not. Tri ply wooden base & card. Thanks for your comments. Z castrarunis.blogspot.com.mt/2017/11/shiban-uharu-corporation.html

Well obviously not quite right for Napoleonics…let us just say the Bug has been busy today. So the AFV, obviously a fantasy…but why so? It looks impregnable, but clearly remains a fantasy despite sloped armour, screened suspension (actually hovercraft?) etc. It is too wide for any European scenario and rail transport. It would be too heavy for most bridges. The armour is either a compromise (all or nothing) or it is an infantry tank and desperately slow, as dictated by the propulsion. No sign of reactive armour. What is the main weapon? The modelling is of an incredible standard. All I am saying is that AFV design is still, and will always be, a compromise between mobility, armour defence, firepower offence, crew efficiency/comfort, the head-on profile offered, reliability/maintenance and repair and sheer size. |

Thanks all for the praise, glad you like them. I honestly had nothing to do with the triple posts, the thing has a life of its own !!! :):) I will post more pics when I paint more.Especially of the GZG Japanese Power Armour guys which are very nice . Thanks Dan, Imagination & vision are indeed very important when creating stuff. At the moment I'm stuck on the idea of doing hover/jet bikes for them. Sort of a jet ski but with hover skirts to keep in line with the tech ( a slimmer version of the jeep or a hover scooter perhaps ? ) Any help or ideas are welcome. Thanks Z |

Funny how some scratchbuilds come about. I had a spare sohei barrel & built an spg/howitzer. Enjoy. Z Atb for Christmas.

Hello again All, All the best for the New Year. Just a quick update on these Japanese themed minis. Must say that this army is one of the most that took time to do, mostly because I experimented on how to do a convincing cracked desert scheme. Still a work in progress but getting there bit by bit. The Brigade jeeps/small trucks are a lovely piece of work but my fav choice must be the GZG Jap Power armour guys. One doesn't appreciate how lovely these are until one starts to paint them. Kudos to the sculptor. castrarunis.blogspot.com.mt/2018/01/shiban-uharu-corporation-part-2.html
Enjoy. Thanks for your comments. Z |

Thanks be to the big. Without it I would never have seen these really cool homemade tanks/anti-grav vehicles. So cool – excellent craftsmanship Marc |

Fantastic job on the scratch built Howitzer its really good, im also a big fan of the Brigade models Wizard hover jeep and the camo scheme you choose is quite original, well ive not seen it applied to any sci fi vehicles as far as i can remember. |

Thanks all for the praise. I think so too Avamango, both for the Brigade hover vehicles & the camo scheme. Here are pics of the latest models. Brigade's Shaman medium tank is one of the nicest models around & a joy to paint. Since I used the grav bed for the spg I decided to build another one for the truck. Longer & with different drop in bits. A tanker, a troop/supply one & a AA missile system. I used a different painting technique this time. The previous models had camp done with 0.5mm marker pens whilst this were done by brush. Both systems have their merits. As you can see the ones done with brush are less jagged. Can't say which I like best. If there's enough response I'll make a guide on how to scratch build your vehicles. Enjoy Thanks for your comments. I think the camo scheme is superb and highly effective for a desert environment. Shame is that modern technology means that visible wavelength light appearance will soon be the least important feature of any AFV. Ever tried the dodge we used to use for Italian WWII aircraft? Base colour then randomly covered with short winding strips of soft spaghetti (seriously!) and then oversprayed in a contrast (eg green then oversprayed sand). Just remember to remove the pasta. Like the above but much softer edged. An even better scheme is the German WWII "Ambush scheme" which was ideal for a Normandy Autumn, but not much else. This from my pre Napoleonic revival. It looked great on Panthers anyway

Im going to have to borrow that desert crackle camo scheme for my next hot climate force which is a long way off but i will probably be useing ex Critical Mass ZAS troops and jet bikes accompanied by several Ravenstar Lares GEV tanks and some of their Coyote GEV jeeps. |

Thanks Deadhead, Now that's an idea, that would be vermicelli for 15mm scale. That German camo is one of the nicest & it looked great on tigers also, not only panthers.Have to try that out on a scifi model. Borrow away Avamango, with those minis you can't go wrong. If you need more info just ask. Z |

These are 15mm !!!!!!!!!! Speechless (unusual for me). I assumed 28mm This is amazing scratchbuilding in any scale, but to put windscreen wipers onto a 15mm vehicle. Your desert cracked camo scheme is brilliant at breaking up the outline. My pasta idea would not produce such good result for an arrid landscape. I just wanted to mention it, but I suspect in 15mm, not feasible. If you can do this, try Napoleon's coach captured at Genappe and show it here! |
zrunelord | 10 Jan 2018 11:10 a.m. PST |
Thanks again Deadhead, Glad you like them so much, I guess the older one gets the barmier he becomes 😁😁😁 My only problem would be if my hands start to shake with age, till then windscreen wipers in 15mm it is ( might as well go out with a bang 😉) I will try your idea using vermicelli which are thinner spaghetti. Perhaps an orange base on a white undercoat then a black overspray.. should look out of this world literally. Sorry but i did not understand the Napolean's coach bit, please explain ( I looked it up but what does his coach have to do with pasta? ) Z |
deadhead | 10 Jan 2018 2:07 p.m. PST |
I have so enjoyed your posting which somehow ended up on the Napoleonic site. I simply love to see scratch building, but had no idea this was to 15 mm scale. His coach has nowt to do wi' pasta lad. My thought was your modelling skills. I have done Boney's coach in both 15/18mm and 28mm (indeed a few others from that era) as below. I think you can tell which is 28mm! I could not with yours…genius work. The Splinter Camou effect is superb

Hello again all, Here are pics of my Shiban Uharu Corporation Mecha & Drones. Mecha are Zandris IV which I luckily managed to get even if they are not being made anymore. Though he has newer versions. Great minis & service from Zandris IV Drones are scratchbuilt. I decided not to paint them in the cracked paint scheme like the rest but used a well weathered scheme. Thanks for your comments. Z castrarunis.blogspot.com.mt/2018/03/shiban-uharu-corporation-mecha-drones.html
