Even though it's only 5pm Friday, I am sure our members have battlexed the floodgates of their cash flow and raised a credit expenditure the size of the GDP of a small banana republic as the pretties and the shineys siren the simoleans drachmas, and Bo golesea

Dynaman878903 Nov 2017 4:03 p.m. PST

I bought the Civil War book for Black Powder and the Bulge scenario book for Bolt Action. Was planning on buying more but got the feeling I would have been buying stuff just to spend money.

So far, just a couple Osprey Napoleonic books in the flea market. More to come on the morrow.

saltflats192903 Nov 2017 5:14 p.m. PST

Cigar box mat, finally, after threatening to for months.

capncarp03 Nov 2017 10:47 p.m. PST

Sorry, my cell phone gets wonky when I exceed a certain number of characters: the last line should read "…simoleans, drachmas, and Bongolesian Huublaarts out of their purses."

Prince Alberts Revenge04 Nov 2017 4:31 a.m. PST

Old Glory 10mm Napoleonics to finish off my Blucher Armies, 15mm Essex Aztecs, 1871 rules, flex steel sheets from Dave's Baggage Train and an old issue of Military History. We'll see what today and tomorrow bring…

Winston Smith04 Nov 2017 2:11 p.m. PST

Planned:
Old Glory Voodoo Warriors
Command Decision 40mm Bofors and crew
Greg Novak AWI books

Spur of moment:
Laser cut 2"x1" bases
Desert Rats paint
Acheson corner pieces for field fortifications
Warlord AWI Militia. (Don't know why. I dislike plastic.)

Flea market.
Battlefront T-70s
Battlefront tractors for Bofors. Purely a coincidence.
Bag O'Perry French AWI
Osprey Monangahela

Other stuff that I don't remember.
No new projects, just reinforcements for existing.
I would go back to see if Eureka had AWI Militia cavalry but that would mean spending more money. I'm good. Meaning I was bad.

Winston Smith04 Nov 2017 2:16 p.m. PST

Good news is that a guy who makes laser cut buildings will have 28mm AWI "saltbox" houses for Cold Wars.
So I'm jumping the gun on my Cold Wars shopping list. grin

The Friday night 11pm flea market session was surprisingly well-attended, at lesst for the first hour, apparently. I picked up some books and a goodie for Mrs. Carp. I bought $10 USD worth of Cookies a la TreeGirl as well as 5 of her smoke/flame markers. Filled out my Old West selection and my Pulp adventures figures, and some flat-hatted British sailors for a nebulous Space:1889 aerial flyer crew, also picked up 2 deck-mounted 28mm Gatlings for the same. Note: the figures and gatlings were obtained in the ever-lovin' remodeled Expo Center.

muzik21204 Nov 2017 4:49 p.m. PST

A large case from Daves Baggage Train, some terrain scatter odds and ends and a large 20mm Vietnam collection with firebase from the flea market. Had no idea I even wanted 20mm Vietnam until I saw it. :)

jpipes04 Nov 2017 5:07 p.m. PST

Oh Muzik….. I have been there many many times myself. Sometimes you just can't pass up a large ready to use collection on a topic that (apparently) strikes your fancy when you (first) see it. Well done!!!

My favorite flea market find so far is a tie between a boat load of extremely well painted and detailed Architects of War terrain (a large dark ages village and a large amount of Siege works), and at another table a large collection of around 180 super nice Irish Rebellion and German 1919 uprisings figures complete with armored cars and a tank all in custom carrying trays, I didn't even known these figure lines existed and I have long wanted to game these periods! Major score.

TSD10104 Nov 2017 9:52 p.m. PST

Terrain boards from the flea market. 28mm cobblestone and 28mm sandbag entrenchments. My group's best score.
A Frostgrave supplement
A few painted fantasy figures
A few unpainted fantasy figures
A few misc painted odds and ends like bookcases and tables for 28mm from the flea market.
4 unpainted Pz IVs in 15mm
A shaker full of fine flock and a bridge from BTC
Some 1x1 and 1x3/4 metal bases
A couple of nicely painted wizards from Stan Johansen's collection to flush out a few extra warbands

muzik21205 Nov 2017 3:04 p.m. PST

Jpipes…what make were the Irish Rebellion minis and vehicles???? Id have been all over something like that as well!

jpipes05 Nov 2017 3:16 p.m. PST

The German uprisings line are from Tsuba / Empress Minis and they are really nice. Not just the same typical Germans in WWI helmets! The Irish Rebellion figs which include all sides and forces are from Footsore. The armored cars and tank are true scale from Trenchworx.

Ember52 Supporting Member of TMP05 Nov 2017 3:25 p.m. PST

Can't forget the trees, explosion markers, and COOKIES from Tree Girl and family in the flea market. To the delight of many, oatmeal raisin cookies have been added to the menu!!

95th Division05 Nov 2017 3:33 p.m. PST

6 Trees and scatter terrain from Battlefield Terrain Concepts, some magnetized inserts and a box from Dave's Baggage Train and Litko magnet stickers for 25 and 30mm bases.

pvi99th05 Nov 2017 9:18 p.m. PST

I bought a few things, couple of Ainsty Castings boats, a few painted miniatures.

My wife bought me about $200 USD worth of terrain from a few vendors.

historygamer06 Nov 2017 7:52 a.m. PST

Was it my imagination, or was there very little paint for sale in the dealer area? I was looking for some specific paints (FOW) for a friend, but there was hardly any there. Did not find what he wanted.

On another note related to sales – not all of us are familiar with what the dealers stock (in general). It might be worth considering allowing each one to give a list or brief write up in the program booklet of what they carry. Allows those of us looking for specific things to hone in on the right booth, and not miss something. Just a thought.

Meveeder06 Nov 2017 8:50 a.m. PST

Historygamer, that was an excellent suggestion.

pvi99th06 Nov 2017 8:55 a.m. PST

Historygamer I like that too.

I went and checked the list of vendros and knew some of them had items I was looking for and made a list of what I was looking for at each of those vendors but others may have had other good stuff, that I could have used, that I missed.

Lord Ashram06 Nov 2017 9:04 a.m. PST

A big boxed set of The Walking Dead.

A BUNCH of scatter terrain for it.

Some boxes of toy soldiers for my son.

Random hobby stuff like paints and brushes and glue and whathaveyou.

A few random bits/sprues at the flea market.

I think that's it?

Tom D106 Nov 2017 9:09 a.m. PST

Well,let's see. I could only stay for Friday and Saturday until 4, so I probably would have spent more in Wally and the dealers on Sunday. So here goes:
2nd edition Fire and Fury from OMM;
Oriental buildings from paper terrain( next stop will be Boxer Reb figures from Blue Moon);
Misc.15s from Essex;
From Wallys:
2 scenario books for regimental Fire and Fury;
Age of Reason scenario book;
Beneath the Lily Banners Marlburian rules.
Queen Victoria's Little Wars,The Washing of the Spears,and Churhills bio of Marlborough;
Satirical intro to Miniature gaming by someone called Hugh Betcha;
Many Napoleonic Russians and took in 4 games.

This is supposed to be in the program book as we have to provide a listing on our exhibitor form. It has been there in the past.

pvi99th06 Nov 2017 6:00 p.m. PST

I just realized that should already be in the program. I almost never use one. I usually use the Guidebook app instead.

I have had conventions where I end up with three or four programs, because people keep leaving them with me, and other conventions where people take mine and I don't have one to use at all.

It is in the app. With that you have to go into Exhibitors and look at each vendor individually. Then back out and go to the next one.

What I just found that you can do is search the app for things. For example I searched for Bolt Action and found the one dealer listed as selling Bolt Action items. It will obviously be a lot more confusing if you use something like paint or terrain.

"This is supposed to be in the program book as we have to provide a listing on our exhibitor form"……….

Right; I fill out the form every convention, they haven't included the items we list for a long time.

If so, why bother making us do it year after year, con after con?

It was a great way of knowing who carries what………..

Moe the Great06 Nov 2017 7:08 p.m. PST

Humm let's see,

Blood and plunder rules and cards
Pico armor 3mm sci-fi
Lots of rebel tanks and infantry at WB
Some old Battletech Omni mechs
95 nicely painted modern U.S. infantry.
100 foundry pirates
Some old steel legion terminator looking guys.
Dystopian Wars Russians

I think that's it.. kind of eclectic.

historygamer06 Nov 2017 7:49 p.m. PST

I haven't seen a listing of wares for dealers in some time – at least for CW and FI.

Bumbydad06 Nov 2017 7:54 p.m. PST

Double G: The problem may simply be the product of boredom and over-familiarity. Perhaps a flare gun would help.

Bowman07 Nov 2017 11:51 a.m. PST

Right; I fill out the form every convention, they haven't included the items we list for a long time.

I can see that if each vendor submitted a list of all their wares and to have that put into the Convention booklet, it would be a pretty heavy tome.

Perhaps a better place for this info would be the HMGS website. Have the vendors send their info, have the HMGS update that info. Then the attendees can see that what they want from manufacturer X is sold be vendor Y.

Perhaps a flare gun would help.

Lol!

Ummmm…. for real? If my wife were to read this…. did she ask you to post this? Knowing I couldn't resist posting in it????

OK, As I didn't sell this year in the flea market, I was on a budget.

My intent was to be very selective….. I had a short list.

Anyway, I wound up only buying a few items in the basement…. some WHFB undead knights I donated to Toys-for Tots for some painter to build and put in the auction next year, a B-wing for X-Wing, and some OOP WHFB Empire guys to add to my Mordheim stuff… all very inexpensive purchase…

In the dealer hall…
I picked up some items for X-Wing at Your Hobby Place, Some figures to use for Ghost Archipelago from Old Glory, a stop at Cotton Jim's for paints and brushes and, of course.. Brigade Games for some more Frostgrave & GA stuff!

All of which cost me a grand total of 35cents…. (in case my wife reads this).

TodCreasey07 Nov 2017 2:51 p.m. PST

Indian village from Acheson
A pile of painted and unpainted 28mm ECW from the Flea Market
Fire and Sword Muscovites
Fire and Sword, Rommel and Art du Guerre rules
Some tree bases from Adventure terrain

War Scorpio07 Nov 2017 7:27 p.m. PST

Dragon T34-76 and Forces of Valor Russian SU-122 self propelled gun in the flea market.

4 packs of Gamers Grass Tufts in the dealer area.

Was on a strict budget.
