And not only him, but his son, brother, and uncle, too! All kidding aside, I did find some firm rubber/plastic toy gorillas at my local dollar store (namely Big Lots), and they look great! The gorilla is depicted in four poses: leaning to his left with his left arm partly outstretched, leaning to his left with his right foot on a boulder, arms upraised over his head with the boulder in his hands, and the classic pose of arms down, partially spread out, ready for action. The last pose even has shackles and broken chains molded around his wrists and ankles, and his face on all of them shows him fearlessly roaring. The really fantastic thing about these toy gorillas is that they are PERFECTLY in scale with 25/28mm figures. The height of King Kong has been quoted as being anywhere from 19' to 24', and the figure measures out to just under 5 1/2 inches tall, or just about 25' tall in scale. And the price? Only 99 cents a piece! With the new 'King Kong' movie coming next year, and the classic movie from 1933, I'm sure these little guys will fly off the shelf, courtesy of some ingenious wargamers out there. |

Got 3 of them myself (didn't like the one in shackles)a couple of weeks ago at the dollar tree. They are quite sharp looking aside from the horizontal seam at their waist. ~OD |

And the seam shouldn't be too hard to peel off with an exacto, and then fill back in with putty. Cool! |

I just remembered Reviresco's "Generic Hollywood Style Natives" of the "Nobelonga" tribe, and here they are: tin-soldier.com/native.htm A couple of packs of these and a large wicker wall and BAM!, there you are on Kong's island! I love this stuff! :-) |

Target had some packs of 4 coasters for $1. USD Each coaster was square, made of thin bamboo sticks sewn together with several strings. Make a very simple wooden frame and attach the coasters and you have a nearly instant tall jungle wall. |

Hey! Great idea, JakeB. Thanks! After work I'll have to get to Target, for sure. |

I found the bamboo coasters in the dollar section at the front of the store. They may be gone by now if they were a seasonal thing. Now that summer has officially started, I wouldn't be surprised if some stores have replaced the tropical themed items with winter coats and Christmas trees. |

And if the coasters are hard to track down, try a bag of bamboo skewers for around a dollar. Same little round bamboo rods, just without the convenience of being pre-cut and tied together in a flat shape. |

Sadly I went hunting for Kong and came up empty. No luck at my local Big Lots. Now I will have to start looking at the Dollar Stores. |

Sighting
I've been looking for these since reading this post a few weeks ago. Finally found them at the Dollar Tree this past weekend. I guess it just takes a while for them to filter into Cleveland. I bought 3 of them and some giant bugs too. I also found the Tikki statues from earlier posts. Now I must paint. Norm Hensley |
