Very nice figures and well painted. I am however sorry to inform you that they had red uniforms from 1714, so they did not participate in helsingborg, gadebusch, or under marlborough in this colour. As i cant see which grade of yellow/orange og goldbrown you use i cannot advice you whether it is the Sjælland geworbne (ordinary professionals) or 1st sjællandske national (militia. Until Gadebusch in 1712 the unit had grey coat. |

You are right and specifically Tacitus GNW states "1712-1716 Red coat with facings, lining and leg clothing in feuille morte" I prefer red and I do not master very well white so I decided for this uniform, knowing that the years indicated are not correct in terms presence on the battlefield. It's clearly a "mistake" of mine. I believe that on the other end having figures exactly dressed for any single period of this long war may be complicate….. |

If you did it by design it is a plan, and i often myself paint units which are sligthly off time, as i like the colours better, so full support from here. It is your army, and you decide. Personally i like the combination of colours in the early period: yellow, red, and grey. It makes a colourful army. My source are the newest book on the danish army uniforms from a researcher at the army museum. Unfortunately for you only in danish. So any questions do ask. |

I would allow a unit this pretty some leeway as to their uniforms! |

hornblaeser thanks for your indication and for your disponibility. My program is to prepare at least 4 infantry battalion and I'm completing now my third one ( Fynske) prepare the last ( Dronningen) and than I will start with the cavalry and my only source is Tacitus and an old number of Chakoten, so I will ask your help, if you don't mind. Thanks Frederik, FusilierDan and Costanzo1 for your appreciation. |

Il Granatiere | 02 Nov 2017 10:41 a.m. PST |
No book hornblaser only a site tacitus.nu/gnw and as I told you a number of Chakoten. Which is the title of the new book on the danish army and how and where is possible to buy it? |
hornblaeser | 02 Nov 2017 12:03 p.m. PST |
Kongens klæder by Karsten Skjold Petersen 2015. This is the cheapest danish website: link and what year do you want? |
Il Granatiere | 02 Nov 2017 4:32 p.m. PST |
I'm really interested in the Danish Army of Great Northern War and of the Napoleonic War but probably for this second one is far more simple , on the contrary for GNW is really difficult find detailed information, at least for me, so any reliable source is welcome. |

hornblaeser have you information on "DEN DANSKE HÆRS UNIFORMER I 1700-TALLET (HÆFTET) AF KARSTEN SKJOLD PETERSEN"? |
hornblaeser | 03 Nov 2017 9:34 a.m. PST |
Not specifically. The same author so what is in this book is in the second, but with correctiions. I was planning to buy, when i resumed my GNW project, but then I kongens klæder came out. This book has uniforms from 1660 to nap wars. And i immense details, drawings and photos. remarkable what can be found in norvegian provincial museums, north of where the clothes moth lives. He has trawled through all archives and museums. And it is a beautiful big coffe table book, if you love books as i do. I am thinking of buying a second copy as i suspect this book, will be used a lot. |

Thanks hornblaeser, I will try to buy both in due time via internet. |

I would only buy one :) For napoleonics i would buy a danish book in english about the war and the soldiers. A total fanatic about the gnw would buy his book in danish about helsingborg 1710, but no uniform detail, and lots about the battle. It came out last year. |
hornblaeser | 03 Nov 2017 12:59 p.m. PST |
I think my next paint project will be swedish cavalry for gnw. You inspire me. |
Il Granatiere | 04 Nov 2017 1:40 a.m. PST |
My Danish is non existent, so I would like to buy something wit a lot of figures… a book illustrated by Søren Henriksen would be top of the line. You think it would be possible remaining in contact, to share informations and impression? Regarding Swedish cavalry I'm working on my first three squadrons of Nyland Cavalry regiment and the doubt is: in gray or in blue regardless the period? What do you suggest considering that I have in the pipeline other nine squadrons to paint ( Karelska and Abo Bjorneborg) |
Gunfreak | 15 Nov 2017 8:49 a.m. PST |
Excellent unit. And given people play with 1815 Waterloo French in battles that take place 1805-1814. I don't see why we should hold GNW to some stringent standard. There is much evidence that the classic Swedish GNW uniforms were used until 1707. But i don't care. |
Il Granatiere | 15 Nov 2017 11:18 a.m. PST |
Thanks Gunfreak, so my choice is Nyland ( Ebor)gray uniform red facing, Karelska ( Ebor)gray uniform blue facing in Karpus and Abo & Bjorneborg ( Warfare) blue uniform. Are you tired of napoleonic? When we will see new GNW units? |
Gunfreak | 17 Nov 2017 2:08 a.m. PST |
Yes. Tired of Napoleonics. The first gun is done (hehe) And I'll work on my other saxons. 1 battalion and a squadron of dragoons. |
