Said it before,I think, but I really like the way you did the "lava" look.

As for other figures, Rangers,Dulendings, and Haradrim can be adapted from any number of Ancients or Medieval sets,IMO (unless you're going for the movies--and why would you?).

Dwarves mounted on rams

I'd cheated and already snuck a look at your blog – those are really, really cool Balrogs (I know, that's an oxymoron).

At last the fall of Gondolin is a realistic possibility – with 100s of Balrogs! Fitting Gondolin on the table might be a challenge, but 100s of Balrogs is a start.

Nice work.

Yeah these guys are great. This is going in to my wishlist for huge evil monster army.

BTW--For an interesting discussion of the origin of Balrogs, see T.A.Shippey's book, Author of the Century.

Any idea whether they plan on releasing Dwarves on Rams? May not your cup of tea, but it is mine. I don't play LotR/Tolkien, but for my fantasy games, Dwarves on Rams are fantastic, giving the Dwarves much needed cavalry. Picked up some from Ral Partha Europe, years ago: still available, metal, heavy, and expensive -- especially with shipping from the UK. Would love to get some affordable, plastic, Dwarven Ram Cavalry, especially since they would be smaller scale, more in line with what I am after for my Dwarves… Here's hoping. Cheers!

I hope they will release such a set. As far as I know they have no plans for Dwarves on Rams but the info on what they are going to release turns up earlier on the VK 1/72nd pages than elsewhere.

The same info used to turn up at around the same time over at PSR but they stopped reviewing Fantasy sets I canīt see them flagging them up on thier News page.

I really wish PSR would review fantasy mini's… There are growing numbers of 1/72 plastic fantasy figures, and they are quite useful. I follow Gygax's 1977 1e AD&D Monster Manual for sizes of races. With 25-28mm tall Humans, 1/72 Elves, Dwarves, Orcs (standing in as Goblins) work really well for me. Cannot beat their prices with a stick, either! Cheers!

Finally have a need for this set. Ordered one copy, looking forward to priming, and painting them… Thank you for the inspiration, Paul. Cheers!
