Does anyone know what happened to Ganesha Games' formerly upcoming rules "Song of Spear and Shield"? These were a very promising set of ancients skirmish rules that used the Song of Blades and Heroes engine, but they seem now to have fallen off the face of the earth. There was apparently some playtesting going on with them a while back. Every time I inquired with Andrea at Ganesha Games, he'd say they're coming… Now there's nothing on the site about them except the warband builder, which is no use if you don't have the rules. I kept anticipating the release of these rules, and now "poof". |

they will eventually appear, but they will have another name, Contubernium (because there are several other rulesets with either swords or spears in the title). I keep working on and off on them, hopefully they will be worth the wait. It's not truly a commercial product (I have a hunch they won't sell much) but a labor of love :-) I can say the latest version is pretty stable, but there are some key decisions I have to take regarding the size of the typical game. |

I'm happy to hear that they're still a twinkle in your eye and not banished to the outer dark. I understand about labors of love. I'm writing two sets of rules that are almost nearly done, but… I hope Contubernium is published in the reasonable future. They sound very promising and you may be surprised to see them sell better than you think. I've been using SOBH for my 40mm Bronze Age Europeans. I like the system, but it lacks something that SOSS/CT looks like it provides (especially armor and chariots). |

I love Ganesha games. One for historical ancient war would be terrific. But how about a game who's name we can pronounce :-) Song of the ancients. Song of hoplites and legionnaires Song of bows and blades Song of phalanx and legion |

Song of Gladius and Scutum. Song of Falx and Phalanx. Song of Hurrian and Hittite. Song of Goth and Gaul. |

'Epinikion' or 'Paean' would translate roughly as 'Song of Victory'. But I like Bob's 'Song of Bows and Blades'. |
