Does your local game club play the games you are most interested in playing, or do you have to play games that others like?

Wackmole924 Oct 2017 7:22 p.m. PST

My Club its a little of both.

Skeets Supporting Member of TMP24 Oct 2017 7:25 p.m. PST

It's generally a combination of both. We usually have 2 or 3 games on game night and the members pick the games in which they opt to play in.

TMPWargamerabbit24 Oct 2017 7:53 p.m. PST

A mixture is the common for our club / group members here in Southern California.

28mm FRW / Napoleonic
Ancients on occasion with the 28mm collection Clash of Empire rules
Flames of War…. using my 20mm miniature for the bigger game look.
Some aerial WWI in general but some WWII era action (Wings of War/Glory
WWI in 28mm using Warhammer Historical "the Great War" rules and "Over the Top"
Bolt Action with club or group modifications

Just need to figure out a rules set for 1/700 naval gaming.

Games others like.

Dynaman878925 Oct 2017 4:40 a.m. PST

I don't play what I don't like, there have been times I went home instead of playing.

rustymusket25 Oct 2017 4:43 a.m. PST

From my vantage point, our club tries to mix it up a bit, but interests of the community may mean that certain eras are not represented much. I am just getting back into gaming so my experience is limited at this point. The members seem very open and friendly to new ideas, so it is mostly a matter of what games host-type people are prepared to host and how the members react. But that is as it has always been.

Both.

Bob in Edmonton25 Oct 2017 5:32 a.m. PST

Both. Fortunately enough selection each night that I can usually find something I like.

Doug MSC25 Oct 2017 5:45 a.m. PST

I don't know if you can call our group a club. We have 8-15 people show up for a game once a month at my home. We rotate our games with 40mm AWI, FIW & Medieval figures. Since I have everything here including scenery, space, tables set up, etc. Nobody has a problem with not playing the games and we all enjoy the evenings.

We have a small local group, 5-8 members max. IT's been hard for us to recruit for some reason, I'm guessing because most of us are old farts. We play a mix of games brought in by the participants.

We mostly meet at my home, so we always play a game I like – the one I set up before we start. And we always let guests select. Ends up that I rarely play a game I am playing because others want to play it.

Rich Bliss25 Oct 2017 7:09 a.m. PST

I just wish I could find a club. ☹️

wrgmr125 Oct 2017 8:04 a.m. PST

We play games I like.

dusty 56225 Oct 2017 8:45 a.m. PST

I would also like to find a club near me but because of work it can only be the odd Saturday afternoon never mind I will just play with my son and grandson(when older)or brother-in law or just keep playing solo

JimDuncanUK25 Oct 2017 11:16 a.m. PST

I was in my local club for over 40 years and I only played in games that I liked.

Nowadays I play all my games at home and I only play games that I like.

I see no difference.

RJBAJB27 Oct 2017 1:24 p.m. PST

Because we meet twice a week most of us have games arranged in advance involving two or more players but most of us are happy to have others turning up and joining in games.
I am very lucky in that I only have to walk around the corner to the club, so often I just turn up for a chat or join in a game if invited and I feel like doing so

christot28 Oct 2017 5:51 a.m. PST

There's a club near me? cool…you must give me their address
