For my current Chain of Command campaign Storming the Citadel I needed to create a Russian village with a lot of wooden fencing. I wanted something with versatility and so came up with the idea of producing some bases that could be modular. Starting with a basic fenced area:
I then made two similar sized bases but with one side unfenced:
These can then be joined together in a number of ways:
And then buildings can be placed as needed:
Alternatively making use of the unfenced sides I can use additional lengths of fencing to create different configurations:
