I looked at both rules and am interested in how quick they are. Given, let's say, the battle of Dogger Bank with 4 to 6 people, how long will the scenario take to play? Please refrain from which rules are ‘better' and why. I am more interested in speed of play. |

I've never heard of Grandfleets 3? Any chance you mean General Quarters 3? Both are about the same level of complexity and both play about the same pace. I have played Naval Thunder and I would rate it as between 2.5 and 4 hours for Dogger Bank. |

Thanks for the input but I am looking at these two rules only, with questions limited to time of play. WTJ is for pre-dread anyway. |

Corrected link for Majestic 12 Games, makers of Grand Fleets 3rd Edition: mj12games.com I think GF3 would play significantly faster…maybe a couple hours or less for a Dogger Bank game if using capital ships only. Combat has been streamlined quite a bit and is pretty lethal. Too much so, for my tastes. Naval Thunder plays more like GF2 (which I prefer to both of these). It has more detail (moderate level), but it's going to play slower. McKinstry's time estimate for NT looks reasonably accurate. |

Thanks. I would definitely want to include all the ships. Eliminating the light forces, is definitely not an option. Anything less is a shoot em up game with no basis in history or era tactics. |

I have both NT and GF3 and would agree that GF3 plays faster and is more lethal. |
