Putting together an King Arthur DBA army 3/2/81a. Have Essex figures but need spearmen -- 5 x pedyt (Sp).

Most of my figures are Patrician/Late Romans but what to use for the Romano-British spearmen?

In 28 mm these guys are a good model to follow

If you want to stick with Essex, I'd recommend a mix of Welsh Heavy Spearmen (WA2), Late Roman Legionaries (RA51 and/or RA51A), and Dark Ages Western European spearmen (DGS5 and/or DGS6).

I used the Essex Late Romans and removed the helmet combs,
The suggestions above are a good pool to pull from.

Chris and MS, thanks for the suggestions. I ordered a ready made Essex army for King Arthur and they sent me Saxon war band for the pedyt.

I was looking for figs with oval shields.

Another source (although I'm not sure how well they mix with Essex, would be Splintered Light's Romano-Brits

and in particular, their heavy sword and spear infantry.
