I am working on my unit of Fallen for my Chaos Space Marine force. Along with having the option of taking up to four special weapons in the unit I can take either another special weapon or a heavy weapon. Of course the plastic sprew comes with the Heavy Bolter and Missile Launcher already. Yes, I know that there are other heavy weapon options if I want to spend a lot of time/money on Ebay or other bits trade and sale sites. I'm not interested in that right now. I have what I have. The unit is already kitted out with three plasma guns and a combi-plasma. The champion has a plasma pistol. This is going to be my stand back and shoot the bejeberzers out of you unit. Having the ability to re-roll a hit of one with the Fallen means the plasma guns will always be on max setting. Hmm…maybe that heavy plasma might be a good idea. Anyway, discuss the merits of heavy bolter vs missile launcher, as these are the two most common heavy weapons options available because of how the tactical space marine boxes are set up. I am using the Mark IV power armor set, which by the way in my opinion the best looking power armor in the game. |

Heavy bolder the whole way. The missile launcher was certainly more versatile but the big thing for us was always that there was a lot of miss in MISSile. I don't know why it was but we missed so many times with them that we started calling them rocket launchers. So my advice to you is largely based on evidence-based superstition. |

Yeah, you never called them MISSile Launchers… :) I do think more shots are generally better in new edition. |

Plus in the new edition heavy bolters can actually hurt tanks. |

At a pinch. Fill or cover the bolters ammo feed hole. Cut off the barrel. Fashion a new barrel (or leave the old one and green stuffover it. Add bits for the cartridge looking thingies. Maybe add some ribbing along the top. Green stuff or some patterned plastic. Maybe some extra wires. From…wire. Instant plasma cannon. |

Now that is not a bad idea H-Man. I think I am going to go with the Heavy Bolter for now. Plus the one that comes with the Mark IV sprews just looks like a beast with the drum barrel ammo feed. Later I will convert or purchase the bit to swap out the Heavy Bolter for the Heavy Plasma. I'm liking how my conversions are coming along with the Fallen. Still, I've only gotten three games of 8th as work has kept me busy. My free time has been spent building and painting. |

More falls it is, also equipping my Havock squad with 4 heavy bolsters. |

Somehow my phone translated dakka as falls and bolters as bolsters. |
