As the last of the bulkhead melted away the Blood Angels gripped their bolters tighter and prepared to move. The metal was rapidly cooled after the melta-array stopped and the Astartes were through the portal and into the World Eater's ship.

The Imperial Fists were bombarding the ship even as the Blood Angels boarded it and the Mailed Fist shook. The marines rocked from side-to-side despite the mag-locks on their boots.

The loyalists raced forward despite the explosions, moving towards the objective.

The first two squads pressed towards the engine room and the main control level for this deck. Another squad took up position at the doorway leading to the large section of access rooms for the ship's various systems.

There was a squad of terminators set to teleport into that area and the veteran's job was to set up overwatch positions down the hallway so that anything coming would have to weather their fire while the terminators could wreck everything.

The sound of chain axes could be heard from down the hallway and as World Eaters appeared around the corner they were greeted by a furious burst of fire from the squad. A flash of light from the perpendicular corridor announced the arrival of the terminator squad.

Just then the marines on both sides of the corridor were thrown off their feet as that section of the deck was rocked with a massive explosion.

Another one came shortly after and the marines had not gained their feet before being thrown down again.

Both groups rose and the World Eaters continued into the fusillade of fire.

The other two squads of Blood Angles managed to reach the engine room just as a World Eater dreadnought stomped around the corner. The twin heavy bolters came to life and ripped apart a couple of the veteran squad before the dreadnought surged into their ranks and dispatched three of them with its power fist. The sergeant ducked under the attack and smashed his own power fist into the dreadnought's and shattered the metal monster's weapon.

The Blood Angel veterans back away from the beast as terminators move up to support them, soon the dreadnought lies in smoking ruins.

The Veteran squad moves into the engine access room and start to do their work of destruction.

Another massive explosion rocks the ship, throwing the World Eater captain from his perch on the destroyed dreadnought.

Back at the main access center a chasm remains between the World Eater rampagers, or what few of them are left, and the Blood Angel veterans as a lance strike took out the entire part of the deck, many of the rampagers and the whole terminator squad.

The two forces draw apart as this deck of the ship becomes too unstable to continue fighting.

This was the first scenario in a two-part mini campaign.

In this the board:

was divided into 6 sections. Each turn, at the end, we rolled a d6 to determine which section had been hit by Imperial Fist strike cruiser shooting. Then we rolled a d6 to see how much damage the section took.

At 6 points it became unstable and any model charging on it rolled a d6. On a 6 they fell through the deck and were out of the game.

After 12 points of damage the section was destroyed and the pieces were removed from play along with any models on them.

So for the first three turns we rolled 3, which was where 5 of the 7 objectives were.

That section took 6 points of damage on the first roll. Then it was up to 10 after round three.

It was top of the fifth round before there was any contact.

Just as the rampagers were about to charge into the enemy we rolled another 3 and that section was destroyed taking out a terminator squad and all but four of the rampagers.

I'm glad you guys liked the pictures and the report. It was a fun game. The main objective part blowing out the way it did was so Murphy's law that it was crazy.

The scenario was based on one of the scenarios in the 2nd Realmgate Wars book for AoS.
