"Who does this look like?" might make a good poll. I'm leaning towards Jeff Morrow:

Or maybe Stuart Whitman:

Either way, not a bit like the Emperor.

Funny thing, neither did his death mask!

By Waterloo he was looking very different and folk were shocked by the change in him. The painting is simply superb, but I would take out the eyebrows completely….he did not do bushy eyebrows!

But if you want to see an uncanny image…see his brother Jerome years later in this Alamy photo off the Internet;

This photo is, according to Alamy, the son of Jérôme Bonaparte, not Napoléon's brother Jérôme:

Napoleon Joseph Charles Paul Bonaparte (1822 – 1891), son of Jerome Bonaparte and French Politician, Portrait, circa 1860

That said, the resemblance as you say is uncanny.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Brilliant.

I tried to work out how he could have looked so young, when he was a general at Waterloo, yet still lived to the age of "photography".

I have saved this image for years, puzzled by it. I have posted it here before indeed.

I have always thought that this was the daft chap who sent an entire corps into Hougomont, but that he aged so well.

I am very, very, grateful for that…if slightly embarrassed!

Even more weird then that the genes show through so strongly…..

I went ahead and started a poll:

You have usurped Tango…

You apologise for high jacking his posting. A Tango posting has been high jacked.

You do know this makes you a legend, do you not?

There are parts of Italy where remnants of your body would appear in a Basilica, for veneration.

Being Irish I know about such things……….

Unless I lose some weight and start shaving regularly, I'm afraid my corpse will be claimed by the Institute of Scientific Santa Clausism.

I hear they've found the True Sleigh. . .

should we tell tango this is an old post. Or just stop trying?

Bless him…..let him do his thing.

This forum does have its quiet moments and, if he posts one of my dead topics and resurrects it, I am as grateful as was Lazarus (a chap in the Bible, not a bad read as long as you stick to the New Testament and avoid the slaying and smiting bits).

You are right. On the original post, great figure. I have a few of the Gringo figures, good stuff. I have been wargaming since the 70s with a large Napoleonic collection and have yet to find a good emperor figure. I will get this one once its available in the former colonies.
